The races in GW2 still represent the fantasy archetypes. If people don't like the look and they would rather have the Tolkien races, well, there's always LotRO, which had to go f2p despite people liking the cookie cutter races so much.
Tengu would have been cool, I agree on that. Centaurs not so much and dwarves weren't playable in GW1. They were also boring. Personal opinion.
I don't know where you got the impression that GW2 will be anything like WoW. From what I've seen in the previews quite the contrary. I won't elaborate, your opinion on that seems final. Whatever.
As for gameplay, I'm actually glad they scrapped the two professions for one character system. I guess they did it because it was hardly balanced and half of the combinations didn't make sense in endgame/PvP. If that's the 'essence' of GW1, well, **** it, it didn't work.
I will be majorly pissed though if they don't confirm mesmers as the last class.
