Doing a little investigating into what people like the most, because im trying to see what type of server is worth running.

It's the veteran's game mode of choice because it was in RO.

However, you probably want the opinion of the average gamer who doesn't come into these forums. Ask on your website or your server. I have a feeling the spread would be pretty even...

See, now that's not the reason at all.

Yes it was the original game-mode, but surely it's also the best? The reason you'll see TE winnings 'hands-down' is because it's simply the most popular choice for anyone wanting more than 5 minutes of continuous tactical play.

It's all about attacking, defending, and giving two-fingers to the other team.

Countdown is good fun, but with one life, one death, and a few minutes of watching your team run around it can get a little tedious. That's not to say it isn't exciting or enjoyable, it is.

Firefight is, in my opinion, a poor man's Team Death Match. Why a poor man's TDM? Well you get 5 minutes in a round to kill or be killed, over and over until the clock stops. It would be OK but the fact you spawn in random places, often surrounded by enemy, simply makes it less fun than it should be.

What was so wrong with dedicated spawns? :(

Anyway, that's my thinking behind the obvious.

TE. You get more playtime, while still keeping the tactical and teamwork elements that is essential for this game (though most new players still need to learn it).

To be more precise, which form of TE?

I prefer the one like in Fallen Fighters (although I LOVE that map in general, so that may be biased) but many like the actual attack and move thing (ie. danzig, AHEM, apartments)

FF is bs. Doesn't belong in this game.
TE is the way to go.
CD is decent on paper but horrible in practise. And I hate bloody waiting.

Territory all the way anything else just isn't RO!

Altho CD could be fun with clans/skilled players all using voice time will tell

Firefight is a great place for new guys to learn weapons and camp in their spawn and not have old ro1 vets like me yelling "In the capzone people !! this isn't rocket science" :p

Countdown to me is more like "countdown to a nose-picking." Boredom personified. Especially on some maps where it's often, take a few steps towards objective and be instantly killed by dirtbag exploiting a map weakness.

You have just described Black Ops in a nutshell, which is why this game will be home to tons of COD fans ... until MW3 comes out, at which point they will leave, and game play will improve for the rest of us.

Happy that so many of you have replied to this post. I never had the pleasure of playing the first one, was off propably still playing planetside.

CD as its stated can be very tactical and thats not a bad thing. Like search and destroy in cod etc. It reminds me alot of moh:aa.

Is TE with 20 players anything worth, or do you need alot more?

How do you win at TE? seems people are praising the "tactics" without ever really understanding how the gamemode works.

Is the point of victory, taking and holding objectives or is it to accumulate the most "team points"

I don't recall which mode is the "deathmatch" (I think it's the FF one, right?) but oh my god. On the TWI servers all the COD kids vote for it and then complain it sucks. Then they vote for it again.

Hands down, Territory. However Countdown is fun on certain maps (Grain Elevator CD is amazing).

Now FF on the other hand... :rolleyes:
