I got myself another project! It's a 1969 Ford Ranchero. It's solid except for some surface rust. It had a vinyl top that caused a few rust bubbles, but thankfully I got it off while the roof was still solid. I have a freshly built 302 ready to go in with a 4 speed top loader to go behind it. She already has a 3.50 limited slip 9 inch!

I traded a 390 FE engine for it.

I'm going to turn 18 in a few months and will need a car, what do you guys think of the Jeep Wrangler?

Is it your first car? What type of environment do you live in? Are you going to drive it around a lot? And are you going to be paying for your own gas?

Hmm, well if you plan to be driving it a lot, a Jeep Wrangler can get pretty costly in terms of gas, which isn't something that many 18 year olds would want. I suppose that's the only real downside to it.

TBH, for an 18yo, a Wrangler is - although very cool - probably not the right car. Insurance will be brutal. Gas mileage flat sucks.

You might want to look at like a Subaru Forester or Outback. Neither will get quite every place that a Wrangler could, but they'll be a LOT better on gas mileage and insurance, and unless you're looking to do rock crawling or something, you're probably not going to take advantage of the full capabilities of a Wrangler anyway.

The Subaru's you mentioned are both SUV's, and are a little bit overpriced for me.

The Wrangler does indeed suck with gas mileage, I heard it was because they replaced the engines in 2002, I forget the exact details so I'll have to look it up. But the 2012 model is supposed to come with a better engine, with better gas mileage.

The only problem would be that for better gas mileage, I would either have to get a brand new one for 20 grand, or a really old one.

Okay what do you guys think is the best muscle car? Not really expensive sports cars like Corvettes or Porsche, stuff like Mustangs, Challengers, etc.
