As we seem to have a what car do you drive i thought i would add a what bike i am aiming to drive soon.
To go with my Russian sidecar outfit i am aiming to have this on the road in about 3 months.I have spent hours and lots of money on this(and yes i do know it doesn't look like it).But i am rebuilding a 1937 350cc Red panther. It is being done up as a trial bike to compete in my local vintage bike club pre 1957 trials.I am in the process of sorting out the primary and rear chain guards at the moment.Once they are finished i can then make some footrests and then sort the rear brake and gear lever.
when that is done i will then rip it apart and get it blasted and painted.

Yeah thanks mate, leg stopped swelling a few months or so ago so I can happily fit comfortably into my boot.
Not had too much chance to ride due to the weather but have been out for several bone-chilling 60+ mile excursions since Jan. Can't wait for the temperature to get back up so I can start putting in the mileage again.

Let's see... I haven't really owned any, since my dad is into this kind of stuff. So he has bought me ****loads of stuff. But anyway, these we had:

First thing I drove when I was around three years old:

848350b04ac6433c2e89d27.jpg

-Honda XR 50, a child's bike with semi automatic transmission
-Honda XR 80, bigger version of above with proper transmission
-Yamaha TTR 125. Was ****loads of fun to drive around in the forests with that one. Though I almost broke my foot, almost twisted it between a tree trunk and the foot rest of the bike. After that I bought proper hardened boots.
All except the smallest bike were four-strokes.

After those I finally got my moped license when I turned fifteen, and I got an MBK x-limit or something. It had a two-stroke engine had street tyres too. Didn't really like it because mopeds were all 50cc, so driving one after driving a 125cc for years was kinda lame.

But after turning sixteen, I got my license to drive 125 cc bikes. Then I got a Yamaha DT-X, same as Pavel had, with the exception that mine had smooth street tyres (hence the X).

Now after moving into Helsinki, I don't have any bikes or cars. Public transportation ftw :(
I did test drive a 600 cc yamaha a while ago though, was sweet 8)

I'm in between rides myself right now. Sold my 79 shovelhead and investing with a friend to restore a Indian 51 chief. Love those bikes and finally going to have the opportunity to get in on a restoration.

gautrek, that is an interesting bike you have there, I like springer front ends on the older bikes but that frame caught my attention. This is not news by today's standards but to see this well, I had no clue they were doing this that early.
It looks like plates melding the block and frame together. I've never owned a sidecar setup myself so for all I know, this could be a standard frame setup.

None the less, very cool and good luck with your project.

Thats how most pre WWII and a lot of post WWII British bikes were made mate. Most British bikes have engine and gearbox plates so its fairly easy to use different engines and gearboxes in any bike.
Hence the terms like Triton which was a Triumph twin engine fitted in a Norton featherbed frame(which was the best handling frame at the time) to make superb Cafe racers and TriBsa(a Triumph engine fitted to a BSA).
By the way the forks are called Girder forks and the bike is a Rigid not a hardtail.:p

Here are some more of my bikes from past times.
My 1958 ish 600cc Matchless twin.This snapped a crank(like they all did).
This was taken around 1978 when i was a lot thinner and had more hair.

This is my 1976 ish RV 125cc sand bike.which i owned and ran for about 2 years.it wasn't called the Super Slug for nothing.

This is my GS750 from about 1978 which i owned for about 4 years. The first ever Jap bike i owned and apparently the first jap bike which handled and had good brakes.I do wish i had kept this.:(

This is my current bike which i have rebuilt and am riding about now. This shot was taken about 1985/6 and shows me taking my late granddad out for a ride.He is laughing because we are reversing out of the drive.

lol. Not the first time I've had this conversation:p I'll have to check out your site for sure.
Thanks for the info by the way, I'm just starting to learn more about the early builds but back to frames for a moment.
Have you ever had any experience with a grasshopper frame,I'm sure it's called. I've only ever seen one and it did have a 650 Triumph in the frame, it looks like a rigid but has springs on both sides at the bottom back of the frame and the rear axle mounts between the two.
Have you ever ridden one and what are your thoughts?

Just a quick update on my Panther.
After spending about a week in the hottest days of the year stuck in my garage screwing it together it runs.Hopefully i will get an MOT( a yearly roadworthy test) by the end of the week and will be able to ride it legally.
