I just finished reading the zombie survival guide. It's funny how you pick up the book all like "lolololol" and then you put the book down and you feel rather... vulnerable. >_>

1984 and Brave New World are both classics, great books.

At the moment I'm reading "Freedom" by Jonathan Franzen, gifted (and highly recommended) by my sister. I find it really dull and am thinking of putting it down. It seems like a girls' book as they all seem to absolutely love it though... So maybe just finish it to be able to talk badly about it later :p

Right now, my textbook ( exam tommorow and saturday )

I did just order The Wealthy Barber, The 7 Habits of effective people, and the 8th habit on ebay though. They all came recommended.. ( and quite cheap too )

A friend of mine had the author of that speak for his college's graduation commencement speech... he said that half of the speech was promoting that book and the other half was some very good advice

Aye, it's kind of disappointing that
Spoiler!

Doesn't change the fact that they're great reads, though.

And then the bastard leaves you on a cliffhanger and doesn't put out another book for 6 ****ing years. I think he's worse about finishing a book than Robert Jordan was.

Anyway. While waiting for Martin's next book I'm reading other things.

I've decided that even the addition of zombies can't make Jane Austen readable, so yesterday I made work less boring by powering through Adam Carolla's In Fifty Years We'll All Be Chicks. This guy needs to run for office.

Having finished that, now I'm working on Bruce Campbell's autobiography: If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B-Movie Actor. Hilarious stuff.

At least Brandon Sanderson is excellent at staying on schedule... so far. Considering that the next volume is the last one, lord only knows how long it will take for it to come out.

If Sanderson misses the deadline, I'll burn Utah to bedrock just to make sure I can get vengeance on him.

Sanderson's doing a hell of a job on this, though. I've never read anything of his aside from his work on finishing WoT, but he's really doing a good job on it. I honestly can't pick out any single bit in there that doesn't feel exactly like Jordan's style.

Sucked when Jordan died. When I was in college I got to meet him a few times. I had to get an alumnus to interview me and sign off on my application, and through a little bit of clever detective work I was able to get him to do it. Really nice guy. Saw him around Charleston now and then, and every year we - the pipe band - played at his church for the kirkin' o' the tartans. (He went to First Scots Presbyterian.)

That is damn cool. Needless to say, I'm quite jealous. You should check out Sanderson's Mistborn trilogy--I got sidetracked with school after reading the first book and haven't completed the series yet, but the first one was excellent. I highly recommend it if your looking for something to read.

I just finished The Pacific, the "official book of the HBO series" by Hugh Ambrose. If the series was watchable or even fairly good at some points, the book was not. Plus Ambrose

Huxley said BNW was his satire of 1984.

I'm pretty sure BNW came out before 1984, unless I'm mistaken. Neither is exactly satire (or an instruction manual :p), and the authors were buddies. They just explored different spectrums of dystopia, and Orwell's novel seemed more appropriate at publication due to the authoritarian goverments of the Nazis and Soviets (one was gone, but the effects culturally were there). Nowadays, it is wise to read both.
