How to change light settings? :eek: I mean, how to make day map to night map?

Pretty much delete lights, change the sun setting and add things like street lights that are on and stuff and headlights on the cars and change the fog

I like it! Looks pretty cool killing specimens in the night. I personally use COD Radiant; so with this game i'm determined to learn the unreal editor 3.0 lol. I'm british so I would enjoy making a shopping centre or something haha... but there again there are no shopping centre models so i'd have to think more.

Ah, it's simple. Just do a 1:1 model of The Barbican or that Las Vegasy mall outside Birmingham. If you're going to spend hundreds of hours making a map, might as well make it as British as possible.

Very nice change you've done here man, Definitely has my interest ;) Now if only we had night vision or thermal vision.

Now my Green eotech sight has a map to call it's home ;)

To the people slagging OP off - Back off...Im a noob mapper too but he's done something you DIDN'T think of! Sure it technically isn't his map but hey, you all "take" things from other maps, so stfu.

I really like the look, gH0sTy. But is it possible to actually change the lighting, instead of just dimming it? It's WestLondonDay when you're in the Trader's room, and the torch/flamethrower aren't bright.

Since I use the GameServers redirect, I had to rename the map to KF-WestLondonNightv2-gH0sTy (WestLondonNight was already there). I hope you don't mind?

I like this version; but I think it could be a little darker overall (I thought the first one was a little too dark). Also, what's that ellipse in the sky?

I like the lighting in this latest version. But I must say, the flickering lights are going to give me a seizure. Too much, IMO.

Also, I noticed that the light from the lamp post outside of the church, is visible inside of the church, as if it were on the wall inside.

Other than that, a quick run through yielded no other negative observations. Nice work, again.

Have you considered having an .int for the level so it can be finalised and have the soundtrack working. Seeing as this map is pretty much the original, you could copy and rename the original, then modify from there. I've already got a working one. Haven't changed anything though.

Even better yet, nice job. I played it in Sandbox, searching for things I didn't like. Here is everything I could find:



1. The bright lights in the tunnel and the stairwell still have a bad flicker. And their brightness completely overpowers the street lamps, it doesn't look right to me. It's just a small fluorescent bulb, not a bright halogen? The color of the light is fine, though.

I like how you toned down the other lights. Though I must admit I'm not a huge fan of the flicker effect in general (except subtle ones on fluorescents), because it looks completely unrealistic (at least with this engine). If it was more sporadic, say on for five seconds, off for half a second (always varying) with matching model, it would feel more realistic and it would add to the atmosphere.

2. It seems to me that the fire (in the cars, in the house, etc.) is a little too bright. I think it should be bright, but I think it's a little too much. It's almost blinding.

3. The church should be dark; there are still light sources outside that "shine" in through the stained glass windows. Maybe you could put some lights inside instead? I don't know.

I also found a small area in the church where the roof doesn't meet up with the walls. I'm guessing that wasn't your doing, though.


That's all I found after running around the map for 5-10 minutes. I always liked nighttime maps. A rain effect would be pretty awesome.

I thought the rain would add to the atmosphere, but it doesn't. It looks completely out of place and unrealistic. I guess that's the engine showing it's age.

The fluorescent lights are good. The fire is better. The church is a lot better. Though near the.... err... soapbox, there is some weird shadow on the ground. It moves with you, not sure what it is. Not like it's a big deal, I was just inspecting the church and I noticed it.

I like everything else. Really running out of things to nit-pick.
