After reading Yoyo's excellent contribution to the MAC 10 and flamethrower discussion: http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showpost.php?p=674275&postcount=19http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showpost.php?p=674275&postcount=19http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showpost.php?p=674275&postcount=19

I thought a bit above what weapons that are inherently more fun to use due to style, not efficiency. For example, I find the AA12 very efficient, but in badassness the Hunting Shotgun beats it hands down. My own list of cool weapons would be:

  • LAR, wielded as Spebbington. Especially on Chton, it is so Indiana Jones.
  • Hunting Shotgun. Why can't I wield the chainsaw at the same time? Hail to the King, baby.
  • Chainsaw. See above.
  • Flamethrower. Yoyo said it all.
  • Pump Shotgun. I guess I've seen to many action movies.
Low on the list would be the commando weapons. They are highly efficient, yet soulless tools for handing out as much death as possible in shortest time possible. Same goes for M14. I use the HC a lot with the LAR, but it is a ugly lump of metal designed for people who also drive big off-roaders in a city. The M79 is ok, but the M32 is downright annoying. I'd rather have the option to by an extra satchel of 40mm for the Blooper. Katana could be replaced by 9_6's claymore model and be epic, but I never liked ninja movies. Both dual weapons seems gangsta wannabe.

Join in with you own list of cool weaponry.

Spork, you can stab eyeballs or carve them out, hence having the strengths but not the weaknesses of forks and spoons.

Brilliant.

knee deep in pussy.
Commando weapons are soulless? Whaaat. Mowing down groups of crap Zeds with bullpup headshots, chaining Zed-time with the AK and seeing eyeballs and brain matter fly past your face...it's just too good.

Also, I have always wanted whatever crazyass gun Ripley fashions toward the end of Aliens.

Brilliant.

Those sporks are garbage. This year I did a 5 month hike of the 2,179 mile Appalachian Trail. A lot of hikers carried those sporks because they were lightweight, but they always broke in half right in the middle. I used a 25 cent wal mart teaspoon that I cut down with a hacksaw.

Spoiler!

I'd be happy to see guns alike to these and although they do pretty much nothing for gameplay i.e. filling no niches, they're just so damned lovely.

Good thread.

M79 is one.

Dual HC.

Hunting Shotgun.

Lar.

Axe and katana, chainsaw needs a practise but its cool also, sound could be more "fleshy" when attacking how do you say.

Mac10, if dual wielded this would be, might be coolest, top 4 at least.

Good combination also with berserker i use in hard. Pipes, M79, dual HC and Axe, or katana, but now im practising to use Axe (with scrake).

I was excited to see that what I said about how epic the flamethrower was to be honoured an all, but once I saw your post about the commando, I thought up another thing to say about it.
Commando and Firebug are probably my most favourite perks out there, why? It's because they are both crowd controllers! I love crowd control, I was born that way. I absolutely love being commando with my L22A2 and SCARMK17 equiped on Fully and Semi-Auto, respectively, and firing into a large crowd of clots, crawlers, stalkers, gorefasts and bloats! I remember back in the KFMod, I would always be Commando with my bullpup and dualies equiped ready to turn whatever moves into a fountain of gore and blood and red ribbons as my squad and I hiked 1.8 miles throughout the depths of the BioticsLab. You gotta love nostalgia.

  • Bullpup - Beast weapon, large ammo, cheap, decent damage, very fast fire rate and extremely reliable in the most dire situations.
  • AK47 - Very good weapon if you know how to use it, large ammo, quite cheap, very good damage, nice fire rate, and good for getting you out of swarms if you can manage a combo of headshots.
  • SCARMK17 - A very effective weapon when combined with the bullpup, decent amount of ammo, quite cheap if your level 6 commando, extreme damage to most, very very high fire rate, in semi-auto it's good for taking on swarms of crawlers, stalkers, clots and sometimes gorefasts, in fully-auto it's good for dropping the ones who refuse to die such as Husks, Sirens, Scrake and semi-rarely, Fleshpounds.
tl;dr

I have to agree with freshmeat about the stylishness of the Hunting Shotgun.

It's not the most effective weapon, by any means--but there is nothing quite like firing both barrels, and either mowing down a whole crowd of small zeds, or blowing away a big one.

(It's a little strange, though, to hear your guy shouting "new mag!" as he reloads)

I like the AK as well: in fact, I prefer it to both the Bullpup and the SCAR. When you're a high-level Commando, that extended magazine really lets you pour it on. To quote Samuel L Jackson's character in Jackie Brown: "AK-47. The very best there is. When you absolutely, positively got to kill every mother****er in the room, accept no substitutes."

All of the Commando weapons. I love automatics, especially assault rifles. The bullpup is really fun to use - it's light, has lots of ammo, and is a headshot machine. The AK looks and sound badass, and the SCAR feels like a beast with how hard it kicks and loud it is.

That said, honorable mention goes to Flamethrower (BURN, BUUURN!), M14 (it's a pretty gun!), and LAR (That shell ejection action in ZED Time? Beautiful, absolutely beautiful.)

Searching for survivors.
The Machete. I love lopping heads off with it, I always get angry when I use it and start shouting hateful comments at gorefasts when they try to close in on me. I also like seeing it all bloody from my latest kill. The weapon is just there so you can get angry with it.

It is not that I disagree with you on the effectiveness of the commando class weapon, when our clan divided duties in the beginning I went for commando as it was the class I did most good for the team with. I just dont get the same satisfaction of mowing down a group of trash, even when it goes multi-headshot ZED-time glorius gore, that I get by sticking the barrel of the HS under the nose of a Siren and pull both triggers.

@C_gibby: I'd love a Colt .45, preferably the original no-nonsense M1911A1. Could be made as a model (extended mag) replacement for the HC and make me a happy shooter.

Weapon with style:

MP7 - Its a fast firing gun, many dislike it. In the right hands it is very deadly. I think it is one of the best weapons available in Killing Floor. No one gives it the credit it deserves. Popping heads and clearing crawlers, doesn't do well with anything above a husk but gets the job it needs done. This gun kills and heals, could it get any better?

Support is the only perk left I have to level. Blasting both barrels into the face of a charging Scrake and seeing it go flying backward is so f*cking awesome. :D Much more satisfying that holding mouse1 with an AA12, in my opinion.
