I've suddenly gotten interested in learning how to port weapons from other Unreal Engine games. My current experience with SDK is zero.

The weapons I want to port are from Rainbow Six Vegas 2. I'm sure this is a U3 Engine game, but beyond that I don't know to what extent it is compatible with Killing Floor. Things I want to port include the 21E and the M40. If I get proficient enough with this I may start a big personal project where I port every Vegas 2 weapon I get requests for.

Edit: Guys, I have no inention of continuing on this project at this time. Not only have I been informed that I would most likely not get permission Ubisoft to use the models, I would not get the animations to come with them if I did extract them. I would have to buy 3DS Max, which I can't afford right now, and also learn how to use it, which I don't have time for right now. I'll pick this up again some other time.

UnrealEd: Viewport #1
Download Umodel , This program will allow you to extract animations/meshes from UE games. You can then import these into Killing Floor SDK by using the animation browser. You can open this browser by using the view tab on the top of the program.

Once inside the browser, there are options to import the animations/meshes to the editor. Once you have these saved into a new animation file, you can apply them when you code to view properly ingame.

There are 2 options for installation.

a) Extract downloaded archive contents to directory, where Unreal Tournament is installed (root directory of UT2004). In this case, to display contents of package Animations/Player.ukx you may use simple command line "umodel.exe Player"

b) Extract downloaded archive to any directory. In this case you should specify path to Unreal Tournament. Example: "umodel.exe -path=C:/Games/UT2004 Player"

When I try to run UModel I get a black command line window, but it almost instantly closes after it opens.

Well, crap. I guess this means I didn't even have to do anything. I have no idea how to use 3ds max and it would take me a lot of time to learn that I don't have at the moment...

You can't go around porting weapons without getting legal permission from the company/provider of the model and parts and knowing all the basics of the programs required to complete the desired task.

my advice, make one hand gun in 3dsmax using tutorials on youtube what ever - even if it looks rubbish - just do it to see if you can get something ingame - its not that hard

texture - uvw map it - again using tutorials

then follow instructions on how to get it in the game found on these forums

that will however cost you some time - but relatively the process is the same for all games and engines - so spending this time to aquire this kind of knowledge is priceless when coming to mod your fav games

i would recommend you have high patience levels and the interest to learn before starting

its very rewarding

and through the process you would have learnt some of the good stuff 3dsmax has to offer and all round have a higher understanding of how thing swork in 3d games

You are allowed to use weapons from Stalker...... However you have to recode and reanimate them all.
