I know most of you guys will criticize it when a thread like this pops up, but I still just want to say that it would be really really nice to have this as a potential feature. I remember me and my friend had so much fun in America's Army 3 while we had to clear weapon jam in rare occasions.
We could simply add 3 types of malfunctions: Failure to eject, double feed and failure to fire.
Here's an example on M16/CAR-15 series rifles:
Type 1 - Failure to Fire
Symptom: Firing pin "Click" instead of "Bang"
Solution:
"Tap" the magazine
Grab the charging handle, then "rack" it by smashing the stock straight down on the ground
Reassess and fire
(The whole action could be completed by holding down F on keyboard)
Type 2 - Failure to Eject
Symptom: Mushy Trigger
Solution:
Look at the chamber and asses the problem
"Tap" the magazine
"Rack" the charging handle and "Roll" the carbine
Reassess and fire
(Pressing down F to check the chamber and then by holding down F to execute the rest of the procedure)
Type 3 - Doublefeed
Symptom: Immediate Action doesn't fix the problem
Solution:
Lock the bolt to the rear
Strip and discard the magazine
Visually and digitally inspect the chamber
Rack the charging handle 3 times
Insert the magazine
Rack the charging handle
Tap the forward release
(The whole action would be completed by holding down F)
It's easy and simple, definitely won't be as hardcore as it gets in the game DUST (if you know what game that is).
Also, the whole malfunction feature COULD BE DISABLED IN THE GAME SETTINGS, therefore it won't interrupt other player's enjoyments, just like the Manual Bolting feature in RO2 & RS. As players seeking for realism, I genuinely believe it will enhance our game play experience, not having any negative impact on the game since it's totally OPTIONAL. I will not complain about getting killed in firefights while trying to fix my bloody rifle. (My friend's grandpa was with LRP back in Vietnam, he said that one time during a firefight near Saigon, one Marine was killed right in front of him when the NVAs were only 20 ft away from the trench and his M16 suddenly stopped working...) :/
