You mean Red Alert 1? Wanna make a map where some Russians go back in time and shake Hitler's hand and remove him from existance?

And don't forget the uber-T55s which pwn Leopard 2A6s, which are shitty tanks too, in one shot.

if you say they Soviets invaded in the early 50's then you can drop the SLR for us Brits and give us the EM2 (Enfield No 9 is the officail adoption name) the perfect assult rifle (passed over after a year in service because chirchill wanted a nato standard round). As it's flawed M14, AK and AK M's in trials having it in a game would be sweet. Although youd have to get a few .280 intermediate rounds from somewhere to get the sound right I know that one country adopted the FAL with the round (it's what it was designed for) but i cant remeber which one.

In this vein I think an interesting idea would be a continuation of WW2 scenario, where Russia and the Western Allies come to blows.

It could start in say 46' and span into a decades long confilct reflecting the real-world changes in weaponry. ie.

1946-50 Maps see the Russians starting with small amounts of SKS carbines, RP-46 variants of the DP, Nagants, SVT's and all the standard WW2 era fair, then ending up solely armed with SKS's, RPD light machineguns (which was an excellent piece of kit in its day) and their standard sub-machineguns. While against this you have the Americans using the Garand, BAR and M1919A6, and British with their No.4's, Stens and Bren guns.

1950-60 you see the Russians getting increasing numbers of AK47 and AKM added to their inventory and ending up armed solely with them. While the USA gains the M14 and the British the SLR, Sterling and 7.62 NATO variant of the Bren gun.

The same spanning inventory could apply to vehicles as well and you could move the conflict forward as far as you wanted.

First scenario - the 're-liberation' of Pilsen.

This was the only major Czech town not liberated by the Russians - Patton's third army got there first in a heroic bid to liberate the brewery. :D

Once Gottwald got in, in 1948, orthodox (i.e. party) wisdom had it that it was Russian soldiers that did the liberating.

Well, what if they fight it out - Flashpoint Urquell?
