We are currently testing a new RO 2 build.

Add the following to the end of your target line of your steam start up shortcut:
-beta orcred2

example: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -beta orcred2

Change log:

Map Balance

- Reduced Elite Riflemen and Assault roles on all maps.

- Fixed various spawn camping issues on all maps.

- Apartments - Added additional allied spawn after capturing the first set of objectives

- Barracks - Fixed an exploit that allowed you to get into a wall

- Fallen Fighters - Added missing spawn on squad leader spawns to sewers and trenches

- Grain Elevator - Added a spawn for the Allies that is on the 4th floor. This for when the allies are defending the Foothold

- Spartanovka - Fixed an issues with spawn protection incorrectly showing up when one of the objectives was captured in the 16 player version. Also fixed an Allied spawn not working correctly on the 16 player version.

Performance/Stability
- Reduced the fps hitch during first spawn
- Improved the framerate smoothing video setting to give more stable FPS
- Fixed memory spike when changing teams in the role selection menu
- Improved physics performance (removing another cause of hitching)

Other
- Fixed a wall exploit while leaning
- Satchel objectives can now be 'captured' by destroying the target
- Fixed getting kicked for idling if the server has set MaxIdleTime when reinforcements have run out, or when dead in countdown mode.
- Fixed momentary green scope texture when taking over a bot with a sniper scope.
- Fixed an bug where tank crew members would be invisible the first time they unhatch from the driver seat
- Tank geometry should no longer disappear after being killed as a tank crewman
- Several problems with the hero rank have been addressed (Enemy loadout weapons not showing up, losing hero status after death, UI refinements, etc...)
- Launching the game the first time will add a setting, HUDTipsLevel, to ROGame.ini. Changing this will reduce the amount of text tips that appear on the HUD (0 - All Tips, 1 - Moderate Tips, 2 - Few Tips). Looking for feedback and later on we may add it as a menu option.

To leave the beta, remove the additional line from your steam shortcut and delete your RO 2 config files in mydocuments/mygames/ro2/config.

Errrm, about reducing auto and semis, is it at al possible to have number of SL scale with the amount of players on a server? Sometimes there are more Chiefs than Indians...

I have NEVER seen an open SL slot while all all the bolty slots were taken; conversely, all of the assault, lmg & sl slots will be taken even if only 1,2,3 or NO bolty slops are taken.

Not that I'm arguing about hit detection issues at close range, but how is it always the other guy seems immune and turns around to get the kill? How come the other guy never has that problem?

PS: I might be that other guy, not saying it doesn't happen to me but if it does its so rare I don't notice it.

I wonder that myself, especially when latency CAN'T be the cause (identical pings, low ping server, less than 20 players on server, no lag, etc.). There is SOMETHING in the code causing this. And it seems to be the worst with SA & BA rifles ...

Because when you're doing it, it's your awesome skills that made it happen, of course.

It adds a nice touch of realism to reduce the Assault roles, but from what I can see on the beta, German and Soviet assault roles are now the same.
This is highly unrealistic. At least the old system gave the Russians slightly more Assault roles.

PPSH was extreamly common on the battlefield. 6 times more common than the MP40! I suggest giving the Russians 1 more Assault role or taking away one more German Assault role. This would bring a touch of realism. German thought on infantry tactics was still very focused on accurate riflemen. Soviets passed out cheap SMGs like hotcakes.

The old system also brought a bit of balance, as many believe the MP40 to be slightly more useful than the PPSH (even with a drum mag) and the MKB is obviously superior to the AVT.

now only more weapon sway for unrested weapons and iam happy

Realistically, sway shouldn't occur to an unrested weapon for at least 10 seconds from bringing the sights up. I speak from IRL experience. If you can't hold your breath and keep your shoulders, hands and arms steady for at least 10 seconds, IMO you're physically unfit for military service. :D

In yrl experience, what branch of service in what country teaches one to hold their breath now? Must be a post 1970's thing if its US.

It seems they have improved that as previously on a 50 player server you'd have 4 squads on an infantry only map and now it's 3 squads and the 4th only opens up after a certain point towards 64 players.
50-54 is 3 squads right now while previously it was 4

I was taught in the US Army (joined in 2009) to shoot after exhaling but before inhaling

Exactly. I learned that from my parents. We shot in Archery leagues pre 70's. With enough practice and concentration you can shoot between heart beats. ( At rest of course.) IIRC I believe some top Biathlon guys do it that way too.:)

Let's get hyper-technical, shall we? Take a deep breath and let it out slowly ... at least that's how I was taught circa 1980-81 (U.S.). I could probably still hold a hunting rifle perfectly still forever breathing very slowly and evenly, even being a comparative old fart. I mean really, my point is that sway only comes into play if you're out of breath, moving while sighting, nervous as all hell or physically too weak to hold a rifle straight long enough to acquire and fire at a target that may be difficult to discern. It shouldn't sway around 2 seconds after you raise your sights

ALL weapons will sway when in a standing position, even if that movement is almost imperceptible to you, the weapon is still moving, it is not about being exhausted or weak, it is just natural, there hand has tiny trembles, on some more than others, but all hands will have a tiny movement when trying to hold them still.

Add to that the weight of the weapon which increases it, try grabbing a bag of sugar and holding it out straight and controlling the movement, there will always be a tremble and the longer you hold it out the more it will tremble.

There are reasons why the army (or any other military force) train you to control your breathing and why they train you to take different stances, with prone (being lay down) the most stable of shooting positions possible.

People saying you are not taught to hold your breath are incorrect, the method is to take 2 - 3 deep breaths, and hold on the final exhale, then take the shot, the reason being that even when in a prone position your breathing will affect your bodies movements, your chest inhaling and exhaling will move you, your chest does not stay flat when breathing, the more fatigued you are the more the effect will be. Soldiers don't sit in a dear hide all day waiting for a target to come to them, they run around, move and displace, not to mention the tension of being in battle and the increased adrenalin pumping through your body.

SO YES YOU ARE TRAINED TO CONTROL YOUR BREATHING, THERE IS SWAY NO MATTER WHAT WEAPON OR POSITION YOU ARE IN

Really, the people here claiming to have military training are just making it up as they go along, saying what they think is right without any actual experience. I was trained and faced combat, yes the sway may be exaggerated in games, but the effect is not, at 200 - 300 yards, a 2mm movement will ensure you miss the target.

God, I wish I can find a manual with all this hair-splitting. You take a breath, exhale slowly, stop on the exhale, zero in, fire, continue your exhale. You never "breathe" just before actually squeezing the trigger. To say people are lying is freaking ridiculous. Sheesh.
