Atmosphere? the mapper (DamDam) went out of his way to create an area capable of being believed for what it was originally intended to be. A now defunct Pumping station overrun with the horrible creations of a mind gone mad. This map pushes the capabilities of the engine without compromising gameplay or most importantly fun.

still not convinced? load up the map and have some fun.

Yeah, I have to say that in my opinion, waterworks is THE best map out for KF right now. Beats the stock maps by far imo, even foundry.

The lighting effects are amazingly cool and it plays extremely well.

Just a few things which I like:
- There are no dead ends - if there's a corridor, it always leads somewhere. It's a bit weird, because you naturally expect corridors to lead somewhere (well, I do) and the map always delivers
- Really broken-up architecture / design, which makes the map very interesting, but flows extremely well. Hardly any awkward blocking volumes and you don't have to jump on things hardly at all - it's "ramped" so you just press forward... makes for really satisfying, flowing gameplay.
- Hardly any really good places to camp / exploit (not that I look for them). It seems like the spawns are placed evenly around everywhere and the pathing always makes for really dynamic rounds.
- The overall feel is just amazing - it feels like a Half-Life 2 level... (which I still consider the best FPS ever made...).
- When I saw the lighting effects and went in the outside area I... jizzed in my pants (refer to this video YouTube - Jizz In My Pants if you haven't seen it before).

I think this map will easily win the mapping compo wave 1, and imo it even stands a really good chance to win the whole thing in its current format, which like I say is extremely polished (make sure you get V2 - and it's whitelisted yay!).

Waterworks is a beautiful map with very solid gameplay. Graphics wise, I would say that it is only challenged by the new kf-foundry. I have yet to try all the custom maps, but out of all the maps that I have tried, Waterworks is easily the best one. It would fully deserve to win the contest.

KF-Waterworks still needs a V3 upgrade. There are some exploitable parts. It looks awesome but I prefer KF-Foundry. It looks awesome and puts a lot of pressure on the players. You should also try KF-Biohazard-XTX - It looks good and also puts a lot of pressure on the players, nice gameplay.

I'll give it a look later, but I'm not really hopping into many new maps until I at least get a decent grasp of Foundry. My performances on there have been humiliating at best...

Forget to link the footage?

... Yes...

YouTube - Killing Floor Commando Gameplay

Theree's the link, i'll also put it in my original post. There's a part 2 aswell but i feel that this basically shows it all. Some of my more awesome moments are in part 2 though. Also, i run from scrakes and FP's a lot until i realize how easy they are to kill on solo mode. :p

How embarrasing lol.

EDIT: Wow that's badass. It embeds it automatically.

Since this thread seems to be about passing judgement on Waterworks;
I find 3 things wrong with it:

1) While the quality is no doubt incredible, it lacks proper atmosphere from my point of view. While it does indeed manage to look just like a derelict storm-drain, Foundry doesn't just look like a derelict foundry, farm doesn't just look like a derelict farm and west London doesn't just look like a part of west London that's derelict. Waterworks lacks detail to bloodshed and there's barely a single sign of chaos, bar one bloodstain near the spawn and one skeleton in a tunnel somewhere. All of the stock maps and quite a few of the other contest maps have corpses, rotting bodies, blood and violence smeared across every inch of bare wall practically, bringing a very tense and dangerous atmosphere; Waterworks is just an incredibly regular, good looking storm-drain.

2) The map description tried something clever, which I enjoy, by having the description being part of a diary belonging to a soldier. However, it feels the need to babble on about infection and quarantine. There was no infection and the military knew exactly what had happened shortly after it had happened. Description of stock maps should have cleared this up by now. Kevin Clamely(I think is how it's spelt) had a bit of a nervous breakdown and unleashed some of his creations upon London. The military stormed his main areas of work (namely Offices, BioticsLab and Foundry) and proceded to shut down his experments. I just feel that the description is treating this more like a standard zombie infestation I guess. Easily fixed anyway.

3) As far as I know(and for all I know I may be wrong.) giant-*** drain systems like this simply aren't around in Britain. I find the Sawofthedead sewers to be far more realistic(in terms of design, not look), making this map feels a lot like it's set in America. I guess if I'm wrong, you have GTA:San Andreas to thank for that, for having that huge storm-drain system in Los Santos.

Never play this map before, but look at the movie, guess what, this map just closely resemble Half-life 2, the "water hazard" chapter.

Its pretty but just doesnt have the atmosphere such as maps where its either the implied horror (Blair Witch style) of the TrailoftheWoods map or the explicit horror such as HospitalV3. Both of which scare the living sh!t out of me when I play in the dark late at night on my own.

Sammers, I don't think there's that much chaos surrounding the map because there just weren't that many people there at the time of the outbreak. The one thing that really confuses me though about the map though are the cars. They seem out of place.

Then it's a rather poor setting for a survival-horror :(
