for anybody that uses facebook, be careful. the same people that have been hacking Steam accounts have made a "facebook" login page and have been trying to do the same thing there.

if you get any link from even a friend where the url ends in .tk

don't click on it because it's a scam.

for phishing purposes I guess, gather as much info about people as they can in order to steal identity, gain access to bank accounts, get loans in their names etc... it's all not very difficult to do

You're kinda asking for it if you use networking sites like that, to be honest, placing private information on those sites. I never understood why so many people do that. I guess they don't care about their privacy?

i fail to see the "hack" in exploiting the average internet users stupidity. Care to explain?

Someday the hot thing is going to be how anonymous we can navigate the internet, and with as small of a footprint as is possible. :)

If you're on any URL that isn't facebook.com and it appears like FB's sign-in page, you ought to follow your trail of breadcrumbs and get the hell out of that forest.

Social sites are fun if they have a point to them, like Youtube or Last.fm where there is a common interest and "friends" are not the main point, Fb has no point to it except having "friends" so its completely useless.

If you click one of those links using IE, unpatched Windows or bad antivirus you're screwed anyway, whether you give your account info or not. If you do login, thats just another account they can use to send more messages infecting more people etc etc.

true they are exploiting the stupidity of the average user, but they are still illegally accessing a person's private information, which is a clear case of account hacking ;) would be like saying a terrorist flying a plane into a public building is just exploiting the ineffectiveness of airport security, so it therefore isn't a crime :p (of course you're probably being sarcastic, but one never knows)

actually never thought of identity theft through this.....that makes sense and actually is really even more scary than a stupid Steam account and video games. good thing for facebook, they are constantly improving privacy protection....but there's not much they could do to stop this kinda of thing.

and most people use facebook mainly to keep in touch with their friends from the real world.....you know, some people actually have real friends right? if some of them happen to be hot chicks then ++ :D
