we had those like new GM1's and like new STG58's
both verry smooth guns with low recoil compared to a kar98 :D

hit every target at 300 meters with the GM1
STG58 wasnt that good tho

Hey Jay, since I know where you are geographically now, they frequently have gun shows in Lakeland, and they are pretty big. I don't know how often they have M1's, but if you're bored, they are always fun to walk around.

I'm on the South East Coast of Florida and they have gun shows every couple months in West Palm, Ft. Lauderdale, (the ones I frequent). Sure Tampa and that area on the West Coast of Florida does as well. And as Uncle Drax said, even if you don't buy, neat to just pick up and look down the sights of an AK-47, AR-15, service .45, Lugger and all the other WWI and WWII guns and other memorabilia.

Here is a link to the Florida Gun Shows and their schedule:

I don't get why you're buying your gf a new car. Is she paying you back or does she do all your laundry or something?:p

Glock vs M1.... Thats easy. Screw the plastic, get the real thing! BTW, this is the US (and you seem to live in FL, to boot.) Unless your M1 is full-auto (impossible) your good to go w/o any liscence. Unless you buy it off the internets, in which case you will need to buy it through a licensed dealer. [see below]

Basically, you go to the neighborhood Gun and Pawn, tell them you need an "FFL transfer", they give you a copy of their FFL, you send it w/ $$ to the guy your buying the gun from. Have the rifle shipped to the place you're getting the FFL transfer with. When you go to pick it up, its yours. All you have to do is pay the FFL holder their transfer fee. (Depends. Pawnshop up here in N GA charges $10, usually $10-$20.)

No license or transfer needed for buying ammo over the internet, for most places (I use aimsurplus.com) you send them a copy of your Drivers License of Gov't Issued ID after you place your first order (they'll detail it on their website) and then you're on file with them for a good while. You only need be 21 or older for handgun ammo. 30-06 is about 50 CPR, brand new Prvi Partisan. You can probably get Greek Surplus ammo for cheaper.

thanks for the advice marion, but i think u missed what i was saying a little, the difference between the glock and the m1 is $1000, which im not really willing to spend atm. the glock is also for a completely different purpose. I collect older firearms, which i also shoot, but the glock is functional and practical for other needs. I've found a decent M1 now so i guess ill just save up for that.

My M1 does quite fine at 100 yards when I do my part. It's accurate enough for it to group and shows me my mistakes with trigger and sight picture control at 100 yards:
