You won't easily notice the input lag unless in a faster paced fps. Go play CS:S with it on and off and tell me you didn't notice a huge difference in input lag. Always off here. Screen tearing doesn't bother me. I should be immersed in the game, not searching for imperfections.

No VSync for me. I almost never notice tearing while I am playing a game and with an older computer I'm sure I would notice the fps hit.

However, if my computer could, I would :p

Edit~~Oh yeah, when I have used VSync, trying to get my mouse settings is annoying beyond belief, so hmmm...

On every game, I force Vsynch on at 60 fps. Tearing sucks and makes me cry. Also, I don't take any noticable performance hit. Triple buffering always too.

I don't even know what screen tearing looks like, or at least it doesn't bother me at all, so I play with VSYNC off.

Use D3DOverrider, this allows you do get vysnc without the input lag.

D3DOverrider let's you force triple buffering, which is a frame queue technique that eliminates input lag when used in conjunction with vsync.

I don't, played UT and stuff for years with it on.

I've also got friends who tell me they either don't see screen tearing or it doesn't bother them when it's actually severe.

Different strokes I guess.

Check this if you aren't sure what screen tearing is or looks like, and how Vsync helps it: http://www.tweakguides.com/Graphics_9.html

Vsync matches your frame rate to your monitors refresh rate and doesnt let it go above. I also think that this is only required if you use a CRT screen, something about the electron gun blah blah. LCDs work different and you dont need it on.

Always on, as I don't like tearing, and don't see the point in rendering frames faster than my monitor can display them.

For multiplayer games I leave it off. I honestly can't remember seeing tearing in RO2.

The few instances where I do switch it on is if I'm playing a game with smooth sweeping camera moves, like cut-scenes or racing games where there is constant movement but smooth turns. It bothers me when the camera is slowly panning and half the screen is lagging behind throughout the whole movement.

When I'm slinging a gun around it all happens so fast everything is a mess of colours anyways, I'm not going to bother with the bottom half lagging behind.

Another feature I habitually disable to ensure higher performance is anti-aliasing. I play games at 1920x1080, I'm ok with the occasional pixel flickering if it means more even and higher FPS without micro stuttering.

My four year old rig can run most RO2 features at ultra this way, but on several maps I get horrible caching freezes when I enter new areas. This makes Countdown unplayable at times because spawning in a new area after each objective grinds the game to a complete standstill since the last patch.

Always have Vsync on with my brand new rig, since I have an older monitor I get a lot of screen tearing if I don't.

Always on in every game. Tearing makes my head explode after 10min. :(
I have a decent system, so never noticed any performance issue or input lag.

Have vsync + triple buffering forced on always. Play some flight sims too and have Track IR and need it on there - can't be bothered fiddling with it playing other games and haven't noticed any input lag or horrible frame rates by keeping it on.

Just FYI, enabling triple buffering along with vsync eliminates any input(mouse) lag. The trade off is a very small(16-32MB) increase in GPU RAM used.

If you are getting input lag while using vsync, it is quite possible that you do not have triple buffering enabled in your video driver CP.

It was, along with 3x buffering useful a good few years ago to get a balance between gpu and monitor/screen.

I'm using the Vsync with almost every new game, but I have never spotted any lagging/mouselagging or anything like that.

Usually when I have Vsync off, I get to play about 20 minutes and then I get a black screen and my graphics card resets somehow. When I have vsync on, nothing like that happens.

For an LCD monitor, Vsync is good. If your monitor has a higher refresh rate (greater than 75), try going without Vsync.

I have used Vsync for years. Ever since triple buffering, mouse lag is not a problem. I am annoyed by screen tearing without it:

Don't trust your Graphics card panel to force triple buffering. Most games don't use OpenGL. To truly force it, use "D3DOverrider"

Yeah the stuttering is generally unavoidable as of now, even at the lowest settings and constant frames I seen to get them anyways. Unless my ping is lower than 100 they never go away.
