Yesterday I started to build a VW 82 for RO, aiming to 6.000 trigons for external model and 6.000 for internal. In this thread I will post my development progress. On the first two screenshots we have 3.800 trigons so far. Tires have 278 trigons per each, 32 edges on outer rim.

Hi Diablo,

first I want to see how much trigons I will get witch all the details I have in mind. When I have to much after the model has been finished it would be easy to strip down the unimportant things.
BTW: I plan to make the convertible top to be closed because of two reasons:

1. I don't know a VW82 model in any game with closed top and

2. to make the round sight slightly more difficult when sitting inside the car. The major advandage of this car should be its speed. So to balance it the round sight should be difficult.

why not directly make the schwimmwagen? at least it had a mg42 on the hood for the driver.

I have 5.700 trigons so far. With the soft top and all missing details I will get perhaps 6.500 all in all. Is that a problem?

I have 5.700 trigons so far. With the soft top and all missing details I will get perhaps 6.500 all in all. Is that a problem?

Is that 5,700 triangles or polygons? I'm not an expert at 3D modelling, but I have heard some other folks here say that one is more important than the other. I'm not sure though...:confused:

Consider what you actually will see in third person when the thing zaps by or is standing somewhere. The floor thingy imo isnt something that would get noticed. Add such things in the 1st person model :)

First I will make a model with all required details. Then I will strip down all things I wont need in 3rd person model. The slats will be seen in 1st person model of course. But hey, they are 96 triangles anyway ;)
