You know... I think it would be cool if the aforementioned "story mode" included carrier type vehicles. By carrier I mean thinks like bikes, trucks, etc that have no combat capability.

I mean, we ARE the military and police forces, would it not make sense to have say.... the beginning of a level being a sort of transportation sequence in which the squad had to get to their designated operation point, or conversely an evacuation sequence at the end of a stage?

But in the classic survival style game play I don't see vehicles working at all with the way the game is set up, it would be too overpowered. Plus the levels aren't really large enough for them to be feasibly useful.

You mean like a rail shooting sequence were you get into a truck and you have to defend it? That would be a nice change of pace to be honest, but it would require new types of enemies that can keep up (flying mutant bat people FTW!).

Track vehicles such as boats and trucks that move to a set place and nowhere else, and all you have to do is jump on and push a button, then you're off! CSS has it, albeit not very good in some cases, with helicopters. (CS 1.6 cars were better). It would be good for maps where you can escape on boats at the VERY end.

Well.. I was sorta thinking along the lines of.... well, has anyone played Half-Life 2 and the episodes? Sequences like, for example, in episode 2 where you and Alex are buzzing around in the stripped muscle car.

So someone would drive, the others would pile into passenger seats (1 or 2 vehicles total) and you'd have to make it to your operation point. But..., for example, there's some sort of obstacle which you would have to clear in order to proceed. So you'd have to get out of the vehicle, accomplish some task (obviously, zeds would be in the way) then proceed.

Not so much a defense point, but more or less just a type of progression to sort of freshen things up instead of always being on foot. You could, however, incorporate some feature by which the zeds could destroy your vehicles, making it impossible for you to continue. So at a point that I previously explained the team would have to split up. One to accomplish whatever task needs to be done (say, restoring power to open some door) whilst the other team has to defend the vehicles from being destroyed.

That can be done,

In KFMod map Hive (which I expect might be ported over sometime... ;) there was a moving train which you all travel in at one point).

It would be BADASS to have an armored van with spikes on it and gun ports to shoot out of, like in certain movies. :)

MOD IT IN NOW!

Mecklenburg for TS anyone?

The truck was funny as hell, especially when no one was on it and it just rode around on it's track at 60mph.

Then you'd try desperetely to jump on as it passed by.

I could see something like that in KF, and it being very fun/funny.

Possible game mode idea, maybe "Escort the civilians to safety"? You would have to protect a bus from an onslaught until a roadblock or some other obstacle was removed until you exited to a more safer zone. Though that would make the map advancement a bit linear, would give some incentive to have vehicles ingame. Dead teammates could respawn at the next stop, as if another round was started.
