LOL, I just posted this:
http://www.redorchestragame.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27623

What do you mean "almost as good"... still some stutter left? Oh, and it conferns 86xx card users as well.

Yes I think they have little more fixing or tweaking to do before its 100%

I've always used Danzig to test new drivers because its an easy map to compair performance.
I usualy start out as Russian. From spawn I'll run left and then up the stairs to the windows overlooking east and west.

Its running up and down the stairs and moving back and forth infront of the windows that normaly would cause the most stutter witch never was a issue when played with the 7600GT.

But from my little test last night, it seams to stutter a tiny little bit still.
I'll test on a few other maps and let you know what I think.

I will have to try them out, not for the stutter (as I have none) but for that damn bug that requires me to restart my computer when I want to switch my cards to SLI-enabled.

But if it works for others were stuttering was concerned, that is great too :p

Swine, thanks for having kept tabs on this problem for so long and finding the solution.

I don't like to mess with real "hacks", can someone give me a short rundown what this ".inf" editing business is about?

I don't mind beta drivers, but if I have to edit included files that seems a bit wild.

What do you guys guess, how long does it take Nvidia to release these for general use?

The 177.26 was/is a beta driver for the brand new GT200 series.
The custom ini file just adds more "supported" GPU's to the installer list.
Normaly there's not much of a risk using custom ini files but when there's a big difrence in the way the GPU is built, it can be. As far as I know nobody has ruined their graphics cards this way. Re-installing the old drivers usualy solves the problem the beta driver caused.

Here's a link the 177.26 driver with the custom ini file allready in place.

A good advice is to use Driver sweeper to uninstall your old drivers. Re-boot and install the new.

Hey thanks a lot for the driver link EL Swine.
I downloaded it and texted on all the usual stuuter maps (8800 GTX, Windows XP) and it's smooth again!

Great community here and I love this game so glad to see it's still going strong.

Cheers.

Its the best driver so far but i'm not all that pleased.
I have some texture flickering and other small anoyances here and there.
Nothing big, but I get better IQ (Image quality) with the official driver.
Oh well  It will probably be better in future drivers.

Well I haven't tried it on Danzig because I've had enough Danzig for one lifetime, but it did seem as though with the new drivers installed I was able to avoid crashes in DH. However, it doesn't do you much good when everyone else on the server crashes and you are left more or less alone...

Performance or FPS seams good with all but I have some texture flickering around doors, windows and some maps have bright pixels especialy the night maps in DH.

How is the new driver series working for you?
