Upgrading the PPSh-41

What I could never understand was why 'Steiner', in Cross of Iron wears the usual apparell of that of a soldier in the German Gebirgsjager troops? The jacket in particular and the forage cap, yet there is no insignia on it? He is not part of any specialised formation so why is it he is dressed irregular to the rest of his comrades?

Because in real life ****tier than ****- like hellhole soldiers rarely give two ****s about being in parade conditions or getting hands on anything they can get within reason? Looting eguipment from dead soldiers wasn't exactly uncommon back then, even more so considering how thrifty the germans were to begin with.

Also there's insignia on the cap if you look carefully, even beter if you watch out the movie live or find some screencaps ;)

How does forcing new players to learn things under difficult circumstances, by withholding tools they should have had, jive with HoS's goals of beeing more accessible? Wasen't that a pretty big deal about HoS? To preserve the realism and grit, but to overcome the learning curve of the first game that was so problematic?

And what about the issues i raised about Team-balance, and what will happen on servers that disable ranking? how do you make it work with that so it both pleases the competitive, realism and the casual minded players?

And what about the questions i raised about the percived value of thease unlocks, really, why is "earning" semi-auto supposed to be a goal for us after we've allready unlocked drums to make it unimportant? Isen't it just an unlock for an unlock's sake at that point?

We don't want Sticks taken away, we just want the correct loadout for the gun, which consisted of 1 (one) Drum, and about 6 (six) sticks.

Now I agree with the whole 1 drum ~6 sticks thing, but although I see the realism point of view regarding fire-selection, I think that TWI is thinking like RO1: Having no single-fire and the ammo limitations of box mags will FORCE players to learn to fire carefully, much like how the intense recoil of RO1 taught us to do.

And besides, isn't HOS supposed to have training anyway? I'm sure the new guys will learn.

EDIT: forgive me if my point is invalidated by previous posts, I can't read every page of every thread. Not enough time.

Nothing wrong with that argument, but the moment you look at both sides, there's a problem, because the Germans get the MP-40 which has half the ROF of the PPSh and none of thouse problems, so what do they have to learn?

You see the imbalance there? One team gets a weapon that will chew through it's entire magazine in the blink of an eye (well allmost), the other team gets a weapon that will easilly fire in short bursts with no real practice needed.

Not quite the same is it?

at least they'll have comparable accuracy now and it won't just be russians being sniped from across the map by enemy smgs

A lvl 50 PPsh41 already has less recoil. This thread is old and the conversation about the PPSh41 has already moved a lot. We might want to reduce the recoil of it more because it would be more realistic, or from a gameplay stand point, it requires too much pulling down that at some distance even the MP40 is more effective. I advocate for action mode recoil for the PPSh41, since it had a crude yet effective muzzle brake.

Thanks for the reply Sarkis. Judging from your posts and knowledge on ww2 weaponry it's nice to hear from you.

So the PPSH even at range was more effective than the mp40 (in real life)? Definitely doesn't feel like it I'm game, and I sure don't live in a state that allows automatic weapons so I can't try it out myself xD as much as I wish I could.

In my opinion the handling of the PPSh should be different for the type of soldier you are playing like if you play assault you would fire the PPSH much more easier, but if you aren't playing a specific role and you just pick the weapon from the ground you would stumble across the recoil compensation, that you can't handle it, like the gun would be very uncontrolable.
