Update from 11th Oct?

There doesn't seem to be any info about this on the forum, but Steam is downloading a 3 GB update, again. I've already d/led the stats fix and map rebalance update, is it doing it again - and if so, why?

I honestly can not download the patch, as I am on a monthly DL limit and have other uses for the bandwidth apart from downloading 3 GB patches every so often. Is there any way to cancel this, as this does not appear to be a new update?

You can view downloads in steam and try pausing it, then run the game and see if it works. No idea why it's downloading it all again for you though, there's not another patch at the moment.

There seems to be some issue where people are re-downloading patches they alrdy have or downloading large size patches, when it's way smaller for everyone else. Ive got 2 steam friends who had to download over 3.5 gigs for a 200mb patch.. Are you using Steam beta? that seems to cause problems

Change your Steam settings to NOT automatically update the game.

Right click on the game in your Games Library, select Properties, select the Updates Tab, select the option to not automatically update.

Then you can update when you can.

RobDollar: No, that just causes the game to resume the already paused DL, as it has to DL the patch prior to launching.

I've had games redownload stuff I've already had and there is a way to stop it. It's been a while since I've done it, but IIRC I paused the download and shut steam down, then went into C:\Program Files\Steam and deleted clientregistry.blob.

Indeed, I vaguely remember having done this with RO1, but - alas - it no longer seems a valid option (there are actually two blob extension files now, the other one being AppUpdateStats.blob).

Removing both failed, removing just the AppUpdate failed. Thanks for help, anyway.

Try moving the Red Orchestra 2 folder in steamapps/common to your desktop, delete RO2 from Steam, then move the folder back and install again.

What is the current disk usage for the game (steam library > ROHOS > properties > local files) and have you tried pausing the download and just verifying the cache?

There is no reason for it to re-download an update unless the original one was interrupted at some point, so it shouldn't show up a week after you already downloaded it. Deleting those blob files and restarting should have basically reset steam; nothing should be queued up unless it is absolutely necessary (I just tested it with a trailer download).

Try verifying your game files.

Perhaps it will only DL those that are broken due to stopped DL.

I'm in the same boat as you Kant.... i thought I downloaded this 3.whatever gig patch not too long ago

trying to verify cache now
i dont hv the bandwidth to run this thing over and over again

Disk usage is 7972 Mb. Attempting to verify the cache led to the download being resumed - i.e. the full 3 Gb. I'll try looking into it on Steam forums, perhaps.

Try this:

Fixes an issue where new installs (and some others) would not see servers in the browser due to their game thinking they were on a different version.

If you still have this problem, deleting your roengine.ini and restarting the game should now fix it.
