Same for me, 2,4 GB in the update- AGAIN.

It's the 3rd time this is happening since launch, and it's happening AGAIN AT A TIME WHEN I CAN'T AFFORD MUCH WASTED NET BANDWIDTH.

It makes me visibly angry.

Sadly that was just a Steam bug.

don't know why steam forces downloadds on people when they don't even need them. it's never happened to me yet, but lots of people are complaining about it in the new vegas forum as well.

Has anyone with these problems tried turning off the automatic update feature for the game in Steam.

Then when you know a patch is released, TWI do announce these things by releasing the change log but I do like the idea of a sneaky patch, you go back into Steam and turn the automatic update feature back on.

Might be worth a try.
