The M-15 was kinda short lived. The M-14E2 replaced it and was later redesignated as the M-14A1. IIRC, at this time every squad was to have one M-14E2/M-14A1s and every platoon had two or three M-60s. So not every squad was to have a M-60. I think they later changed that.

I wouldn't say that. Starting with the T-44 the silly Christie suspension was replaced with a Torsion Bar suspension.

Thing is the former is an actual rifle round and the latter more of an intermediate hybrid.

The Christie tank was just a platform to show off his suspension system. So that's what the whole tank was about.

I don't know what you are getting about with 7.62NATO and 5.56NATO. They both have completely different parent cartridges.
