The vast majority of AAA titles are definitely over priced.

No s***.
That's why I think a lot of people are having a weird over-reaction to how much they'd like to pay for KF2. They're dramatically asserting the "need" for a low price point, probably out of some emotionally negativity to the price-vs-content of games right now (I'm looking at you, 1886).

Looking at the pole results, $30 bucks? Get the f*** out of here.
I'm calling major bulls*** on that.
And for all the people saying "I won't pay $60 for KF2", um, yeah you will, or you'll wait. And it's not like if you say you won't, that we'll have anyway of verifying it.

You want this game to be supported down the road for compatibility with things like Direct X 12 so you can easily run the game with max settings at 4K on moderate hardware?
You want free map packs?
You want mostly cosmetic optional DLC?

Then take your angst over past games that have f***ed you over (Deluxe Edition of BF4 is my favorite example), and concentrate your contempt on those publishers and refuse to pre-order their games or even buy them if they're good, until you can get them at such a good deal that it partially makes up for ripping you off before (why I'm waiting for a really low price on BF:H).

Games companies that deliver badass games SHOULD make a good chunk of change on them, that's how we get good games.

To the people that think a triple-A addictive multiplayer games is only worth $30: With all the s***y developer/publishers out there that rip you off, make you download gay s*** like Origin, who exactly is it your siding with? Because if you hate companies that hype s*** up and rip you off, you should be financially supporting the good competing developers.

If $60 is that big of a deal to you: then wait till the price goes down. Chances are, the game will have been updated even further with better balancing and patches, a larger player base, maybe even DX12 support by the time you get your hands on it.
You can watch all the reviews by your trusted information resources, to make sure you're getting something good.

Actually, if you always watched the reviews and waited until most of the bugs were squashed before you picked a game up, then you should always get something worthy of you spend, whatever it is.

I can say with certainty as an impulse buyer: If I could get back all the money I've spent on bad games back, I would have enough to buy all the good games I purchased, with a lot left over.

I can only say with certainty after the game comes out, and everything is properly exposed. Right now, I can't say if the game is worth 10$ or 60$ with a straight face. And probably, neither can you.

I have no idea how much content the game has. I have no idea how stable or buggy the game is. I have no idea about it's advantages and shortcomings.

20$ was a fair price for KF1, yet most people I know who bought the game bought it on sale. In fact, KF1 goes so regularly on sale that it has become sort of a joke among friends. That fact also probably contributed to the number of copies it sold.

If it's early access, it should probably be discounted (or at least that's how it usually goes for most games).

All in all, i'd be happy to pay differing ammounts of cash depending on what exactly i'm getting. Thing is, besides a name and a couple of videos, I don't really know what i'm getting.

You should know that it's still not going to be $60. People aren't going to pay $60 for it because it's not going to be $60.

I thought the original idea of KF2 not being $60 was just because the first one wasn't. I don't think RO/RS was either. So at this point it isn't established that they'll charge $60 for all their games.

If game will cost $29.99, then people will find 1001 reasons why it is awesome.
If game will cost $59.99, then people will find 1001 reasons why it sucks ***.

Look at Evolve, for example. It is a descent game. But its price policy made it the most blamed game of the year.

When you get down to it, no it wasn't really that great of a game, even at $29.99 people would have pointed out the flaws, and there were plenty in that game. Not enough game modes, boring gameplay before monsters hit level 3. It wasn't really that great, had an interesting concept, but that doesn't make it good.

I voted $60 because I firmly believe that developers like TWI deserve that kind of money because they show actual appreciation for the industry and for the gamers. If people aren't willing to pay that too damn bad. Don't let past AAA devs or even past indie devs pollute your view on games that might actually deserve your money. I know they never will, but if this game released at $60 I would happily pay that much for it. At least then I could show Tripwire how much I appreciate their work. If you don't feel the same way, you might be hurting a game company that deserves your appreciation.

i misread the post, i voted for how much i would pay for early access. subtract a vote for 29.99 and add one to 39.99

also jake has it right about dlc. the first pack was the level up pack, and it was completely tripwire (i'm pushing that phrase, do you like it?).

it added weapons to classes that only had 1 or two weapons at the time, characters, maps, an entire new perk level, hell it was like a mini expansion. i think the second dlc added more of the same, plus the husk ontop of it. i'd say it was a whole new game after that. everything else though...

then suddenly there were alternate dimension steampunk characters the pyro for some reason, neon / gold weapon skins for weapons that already existed, weapons that were in free, whitelisted mods. i hear they paid the modders sure, and i don't question they have a deep respect for modding, knowing tripwire's very orgins, but i dunno, it was kind of lame. and it did a great job of breaking my immersion (not the most realistic and serious game, but still)

i would love to support tripwire by buying a dlc, but, they really need to be meaningful. if it takes 4 or 5 months in between each dlc, i bet you'd find even less people complaining, instead of "oh gee, a golden sledgehammer pack, that'll go great with the pizza eviscerator skin we got three weeks ago". i'm sure to my disgust there will be more chicken suit commando / steampunk characters, but i guess there's really nothing anyone can do if you guys keep buying that crap.

the only exception tot his is harry enfield, that **** was legendary. i still never bought that dlc though

consider that one of the most played games on steam is payday 2.
before payday 2 was released they were already making profit on it.

iirc payday 2 was about

I'd buy Killing Floor 2 regardless of the price, even early access. I know in EA it will be a bit buggy but that's the point of buying it early, I wanna support the development.

If I had to write down a number, I would say a final price of around $40, but make EA a bit more expensive ($50-$60 range) since you're playing the game early and the higher price tag should have people think about what they're getting into, such as a game in a buggy state until final launch. The higher price should also let people support the game early on with extra money they would be willing to part with for the sake of a more polished game later on.

Honestly I'll buy it at any of those prices.

Just to give some context, Cities:Skylines recently released at $30 and has full mod support. The game is exceptional to begin with, but given the unusual $30 price I'm sure it helped with the overwhelming praise the game got at launch and helped persuade people to get the game even if they may have been on the fence.

If you end up supporting this game the same way you supported KF1 with free maps, modes, characters, classes, and even events...then you've certainly earned the right to charge at least standard retail price. That kind of support is unheard of these days when DLC and micro transactions are rampant in the industry.
