I have, previous to this, a depressingly large number of hours played in this game under Mac OS X with both Snow Leopard and Lion on a late 2009 27" iMac.
I am currently unable to browse multiplayer servers, though I did manage to get into *one* on Friday and was able to get through two rounds solo as my level 5 medic (I know... I'm a n00b) because everyone else spawned with the runspeed bug, no weapon and then bailed out leaving me with 6 players worth of mobs.
I gave up for the day.
Then there was an update.
Since then I have been unable to access any of my perks.
Selecting the "Profiles and Achievements" menu from the main screen throws the error in the subject line.
Browsing the multiplayer games shows nothing.
Playing a solo game *prevents* access to perk selection at all points of the game:
you cannot select a perk at the start;
hitting "ESC" brings up the options screen, rather than info about perks;
at the trader, I cannot choose perks (all seem to be set to level 0).
I have verified the cache with Steam.
I have made sure there are no mutators installed other than the default.
I have offered up blood sacrifices to unknowable entities whose name incites gibbering madness and a nasty rash in those who dare utter those twisted noises.
I have deleted and then re-downloaded the game.
In that order.
Is there any information I can provide to help this issue get isolated and fixed?
