I scanned these from some library book a long time ago - these are the real uniforms recovered from WW2
Grenadiers should have the tri-colour cammo smocks

enough of the feldgray crapola, we need some sexy cammo!

Well, there's nothing stopping you from making a mod that does all this...

Is it just a case of reskinning the models or would a whole new model plus skins be required?

To get it to look right it would require a whole new model - camo blouses don't look much like the current uniform tunics, and if you throw in helmet covers...

Fennich is working on some basic skins based off the current models, but if you follow the thread he explains some of the problems he's come across with using the stock models =>

Also the normal feldgrau uniforms need some changes for Waffen SS maps. On the helmet and at the neck it needs an SS logo (see below). The M44 dot uniform doesn't need a new model, it only needs a new skin. That other camo uniform does needs an new model. They were the camo jacket above their feldgrau uniform. This was the most used camo uniform and whole units got them. That Tripwire doesn't include these uniforms because of Germany is just rubbish, only swazika's are illigal there (also stupid).
A bit weird that it isn't included in this game, they say that they are the most historical correct game.

I think the uniforms in game are accurately modelled on the actual unit involved in the map and appropriate for the season. The date and the unit designation is stated on the player score list on top and the class selection screen. For the "boxed" maps they should be accurate.
In fact, camoflauge uniforms were never officially issued en masse to German troops on any front. The camo was used however, but not widespread, and you never had full brigades or units in camo. The germans used used a cotton fabric for their main issue uniform and it was quite difficult to manufacture cotton in camoglauge without being able to stamp it with the technical works available to the Germans at the time. This was especially true later in the war. Most of the camoflauge they did have floating around was Italian made, or it was hit and miss available in small numbers as windbreakers and overwear of non-cottom material.

Camo uniforms were actually distributed in large numbers: in particular the "Splintertarn" camo, but also "Eichentarn" in the summer. I would like to see some camo around, and even more if some soldiers had it and others not in the same map.

What about the Russians? Or do all their uniforms look identical across the entire army, and all just basic soviet brown?

Wait... there's Russians in this game? They're played by bots, right?

I'm all for adding new content but please let's not forget there's still another team besides the Germans. Anyone remember that LSSAH mutator from the mod days? They added around 30 different uniforms for the Germans including SS and whatnot, Russians got like 2 new uniforms...

Anyway, more randomness about what kind of uniform players wear would be great. You could even go so far to let the players choose what they would look like though within certain limits (forget about sombreros).

PS: The SS runes are banned in Germany however, which is a good thing in my opinion.

I must sadly writey, that it is not true:
in 1944 and 45 maps, where german tunic model 43/44 should appear, the poor wehrmacht soldiers wear model 40 tunics.

In winter maps, poor germans wear summer (again model40) uniforms.

In maps, where waffen-ss appears (Barashka, Koenigsplatz - officialy written in manual and in map description), ss-soldiers wear uniforms with wehrmacht insignia and camo.

In pre1943 maps, german NCOs wear model43 cap.

In map (kaukasus), where gebrisj

yikes! . that is some BAD information you have there son. Back to the books for you!! I have many reference works, including primary source material that says otherwise. sorry!

"Wenn alle brueder schweigen", a large, rare picture book on the Waffen SS in WWII completely contradicts that in photographic evidence, for starters. (search Amazon for a reference for it. Very rare book, but awesome indeed!).

Carry on. :D

No, the Germans have two - the regular feldgrau and the winter greatcoats. It's just that the greatcoats are hard to distinguish from the normal uniform, and are only present on a few maps. There still needs to be true German winter camo though, and possibly greatcoats for the Russians as well.
