What do you think about some close combat weapons for secondary arms like knifes, tools, hammers, axes, primitive clubs with nails, truncheons, shovels the german "klappspaten" of that i know it was often used in close combat, some pieces of rubbish that lie around and you acn pick up like twisted iron tubes, broken planks, maybe even bricks.

what about shotguns/trenchguns!? did they use them in the east!?

In a despertae situation you would use everything you could get to kill your enemy.

For the Germans, the only thing I could see making any sense aside from the shovel would be a small axe. They were issued to every few combat engineers for some scenarios, I don't know the exact figure. A well sharpened shovel could be just as deadly as an axe and could cleave one's face in half (Graphic, yes. But I read it in a memoir once.)

this is all depending on TWI fixing up a few problems that RO had with close quarters melee, mainly being how Fking hard it was to hit somone standing right infront of you with a bayo, providing that gets fixed, hell yeah i wouldent mind camping some dark hallway with an axe when im outa ammo...

Why would you need it?

A large amount of the weapons already have bayonets, and even when they don't, you can hit them with it.

I'd rather have them better implement those in HoS.

Let's just have them patch up the already existent melee system than introduce a whole new one, hmm?

all russians should have nuclear-warhead tipped tree branches. highly unconventional, yet very deadly at close quarters.

seriously, the only weapon a soldier would need besides his primary and secondary weapon (if he has one) is his melee attack (bayo/bash). as for adding additional melee weapons, there should never be a need for a player to pull out a shovel if he has another weapon on him. this isn't DODS or TF2 people....there is no acheivement for hitting a guy with your shovel and never will be ;) in this style of play, players will simply not have enough time to fiddle with detaching their shovel etc.. and engage in a fight nor would they ever have a need to.

the one thing i do wish would be added is the ability to punch. that's something the game's always needed. you have no weapon at all, the least you should be able to do is punch an enemy and pick up his weapon.

i don't mean to sound like a jerk but please, seriously think about your suggestions before posting. there's been so many rediculous things posted in this forum that it's really starting to get old.

the Home of the Heroes!
I have to correct you [sin]-bswearer, it was very common in the soviet army to fight with the spatula in close quater combat!

But I am against tools, hammers, axes, primitive clubs with nails and that sort of things as close combat weapons.

It would be really enough to give the soldiers the weapons they really fought with: Spatula and bayonett!

It should be nice to instal thick steel cable to lower parts of doors. Just waiting for my victim behind wall with bayonet.

(I am joking.)

And for the Germans too, but you are sort of missing the point. The point is, that you seldom would have time to get your spade out of the holster before you are dead. That

i'm sure there were incidents in and around stalingrad where soldiers low on ammo etc used axes and shovels, but i don't think it needs to be in the game.

though i wish if you didn't have to drop the bayonet when you dropped your gun (as long as it wasn't fixed to your gun)

A basic punch attack at the very least !!!

When you lose all your weapons you’re basically screwed. If you were in that situation for real, I don’t think you’d just be tooling about looking to get shot.

Maybe we could have a knife that only appears when all other weapons are dropped? Nothing too exotic, just something other than someone running around to the Benny Hill theme till he gets clipped. Depending on the map the last ditch weapon could be a represent the surrounding terrain i.e. a brick (urban battles), a shovel (trenches), a branch (forest map) etc.
