add another dimension (best start is to have a look in the manual of whatever program you used to create the mad planes and stick to that).

double click on "manual.pdf" or a google search would help you, i guess.

to search in google, open this link: www.google.com and then copy-paste this:

"blender tutorial"
(best done by selecting the phrase with the left mouse button, then using a combination of ctrl+c and strl+v)

into the empty search field and hit the "Google Search" button. if you dont trust in google, there are plenty alternatives, just google them.

Dude, I'm not an idiot, I know what google is, I know how to use it, I know how to copy and paste, I was only asking people if they knew so I didnt have to search through everything.

This ^.

That was pretty rude and harsh of you, Jaes. The TWI forums is renowned for being more civilisied than the steam forums, so lets try and uphold this reputation, 'eh? :)

do you know how to answer my question C Gibby?

Well, upload a screenshot of your planes, and I'll have a crack at it. Personally, I never use planes, instead I trace an image over with a box, and then I resize the extrusions as I deem appropiate.

yeah, it's me, who is answering!
print screen will capture an image of what is currently to be seen on your screen. you can then paste this into any kind of program you like to edit pictures with. the easiest would be microsoft paint (if you happen to have a microsoft system). just remember to convert it to a .jpg file when saving, as microsoft paints usual file format (.bmp) is too huge and uncomfortable to upload to an image host. also resizing the image might improve the viewing pleasure on our side. simply use ctrl+k (if you use ms paint) and then shrink the image a little.
hope that explanation will do and nevermind my first posts!
good luck!

apart from that, what you can do is select youre plane. or the edges on rim of a complex plane. press E and drag it where ever. NOTE that if you do not place it somewhere it'll go back to where it was before and you'll end up with overlapping because those extrusions exist even if you can't see them. so if you lose track of it press undo(ctrl+z) to remove the old lost extrusion and try again.

if you did the edge-extrude you'll notice that only those faces on the edge apear and the center has nothing so what you need to do is after you place the extruded planes where ever. is to fill them in with the F key..

there are a number of methods... my personal fav is to select 3 verts somewhere and press f then unselect a vert on one side the then select another vert on the other side. so that way you build a patern of tiangles.. however the easiest method is to just select 2 edges and press f but sometimes it forgets to connect things.. you'll find out when you use this method.. also a easy modeling technique is to build with the mirror manipulator.. whatever you do to one side it does it to the other.

information:
Fill-Faces

extrude with blender 2.5+ video tut but you can also follow along with any blender version simply by knowing the E key cmd for extrude(PS. is use both 2.45 and 2.51)... pretty much the only difference with blender versions is layout and capability... other small stuff but we'll worry about that later. oh and there are also some key binding differences.. ex. 2.5 shift+a=add menu
blender 2.4x= spacebar.

anyways here: E=ExtrudeYouTube - Blender 2.5 Extrude Extruding Tutorial

MIRROR Tut for blender 2.4x again layout difference but pretty much the same in useage.

now this one isn't very informative IMHO but it shows you pretty neat stuff

if you press the print screen button, the image will be saved in the cache. you have to paste it somewhere yourself. easiest way is to open microsoft paint, right click on the white dawing area and then click on "paste" (or simply use ctrl+v). as i said above. if in doubt, read it again. good luck!

looking good so far :)

a little piece of advice, which will help you achieve a clean and well organized mesh:

every once in a while, go to edit mode -> vertex selecion mode. select all vertexes (hotkey A) then use the remove duplicates command (hotkey w -> remove duplicates) this will eliminate all vertexes that for some reason ended up overlapping each other put did not weld togheter.

not eliminating these duplicates will result in a mesh that doesnt really recognice well loop edges and rings hence will not respond well to commands like loop cut
