These events are usually much to early for me (West coast) so excuse my no-shows.

:)

Well here's the deal, guys. The schedule was formulated by TWI to take into account the time zones in the UK and the US. Admittedly, one size does not fit all, but we tried to come up with something where RS/HOS players on both sides of the Atlantic would get a good shot at it at least one day a week. I will pass on any suggestions. But keep in mind the time zones we are trying to accommodate.

Lucky for us mappers the bots did read this topic and decide to show up.
Most human forum visitors went to the redlight district, coffeeshop or just
went to church.

:D C'mon now, I'm crushed. Turnout wasn't bad. And on Sundays, I'm up against football games. Have mercy.

To be honest. The turnout was kind dissapointing. At 21:00 hour European time is 15:00 for the Westcoast. Wolverine, Shadowwill and I played 2 rounds on Kobura 1 round on Bataan and OtorisShima. I did not count exactly but I guess we never got over 25 humans. There where a bunch of Wild Bunch Members and some pubbers. That seriously isn't much for a sunday.

I know these events will work when some TWI Bigshot post an announcement on Steam. Than all of a sudden players will crawl from under a stone and play. At least thats how it worked a while ago (probably a year) when we wanted to test custom maps and needed meat. Maybe even that won't work anymore.

If you've been following this thread then you know that the times are always faithfully announced a day ahead of time right here. The times are always given in US EST. And they don't vary. The days are always Tue, Thurs, and Sunday. And the maps being played are listed. I don't make the schedule, but I DO faithfully conform to it. Yoshiro does not always announce the event, but he does when he and other TWI studio members are available to play. Regardless of that, the schedule is adhered to. Participation varies. The average session usually brings in twenty or more players. Some sessions have filled the server for a couple hours. The days selected are formulated to give a fair opportunity to each range of time zones we operate around a good chance for participation on at least one day a week. The rest is up to the players and Providence.

I will continue to feature and high-light the work of mappers here to do the best I can to assist in map development, provide a constant source of availability, and attract player attention. And when I'm not doing that, I'm giving away free tickets to the public. :D

I'm not commenting on the announcement, shedule, mapchoice or the way you guys announce the events. Everyone has the same goal. I probably pump out another update before the thursday event

But you mention that the average session usually brings in twenty or more players it only prooves Wolverines post and Catalavos thread. Most of the players probably don't care.

 After observing player behavior with regard to custom servers for a few years now, my take on it is a little different. It's not that they don't care, I think it's more a situation of lack of awareness combined with this senseless download aversion, and a lack of imagination. :D I think a lot of folks fail to envision how good many these maps are. If they could get a glimpse of them in action without the (reviled:rolleyes:) download chore, I see no reason why they wouldn't be all over them like white on rice.

Thanks to everyone for the Thurs Crucible OGG event participation. Lots of RST guys were in to look at these maps. Bravo. "Streets" got another workout as well as Kobura and Bataan. Stalag13 as well. All great pieces of work.

I'll have a Sunday schedule posted here before long.

Best wishes,

Sajer

Nothing we do in Crucible has any connection with the RS/HOS beta platform.

Crucible is a standard 64 slot RS/HOS public Realism server.
Most maps are beta, a few are alpha, and all maps are contained within our redirect, fresh, and continuously updated. The purpose of Crucible is test and support for all custom maps under development. It is also intended to be a place for any public player to play any of the Custom maps currently in existence 24/7. Crucible is a nice resource. Spend some time here and take advantage of it.

Thanks to all the players who participated in the Thurs Crucible OGG event.
BOH-Rekrut came in to observe his work. A good time was had by all.

The Sunday map event list will be posted here tomorrow.

Best wishes,

Sajer

Does the crucible server have a TS3, or Ventrillo voip channel?

Often not too many show up, and if we have a place to discuss the map people might stay longer especially if they have to wait for long downloads due to being on slower internet etc.

Good point. Maybe we can open a TS3 channel on the TWIL TS3 server for this purpose.
