TWI, you remind me of Bungie.

Assuming you aren't going to discuss it, but anyway..a small percentage wanted reduced recoil, sure. But no one wanted reduced sway, instant iron sights, hardly any sprinting effects, hardly any difference between standing and crouched, unrealistic class limits (1/3 bolts at best), unrealistic weapon types, bandaging (really it was discussed and it was always concluded that it wasn't needed in a realistic game), zoom etc.

Don't make out RO1 players wanted a game that feels like a generic run&gun fps. If you have to make the guns easier to control for "realism" then why not put realism in were it makes the gameplay harder in other ways?
That was pretty much exactly what I wanted to say too.

The smg's in WW 2 tended to be combat effective out to 150 to 200 meters. That means, you can hit what you shoot at at that range, and expect to damage it.
Exactly. The MP40 has a sight for 200 m, if nothing else that would suggest that it is fairly accurate out to at least that range.

As for stopping power, if we use the typical bullet weight for a 9 mm round of around 8 grams and given that the muzzle velocity of the MP40 is 380 m/s, that results a muzzle energy of about 570 J.
At 150 m distance this has dropped down to 100 J, still plenty enough to kill, at 200 m it's down to 55 J, while at this range the stopping power have dropped significantly, it's still enough to push the round into the body of a target.

Keep in mind though that these figures are estimates, if the MP40 did use a heavier bullet and still shot it at 380 m/s the retained energy at 200 m will be higher.

there's nothing wrong with sprinting speed. it's incredibly slow and if anything should be sped up to about 12 mph. i'd make a guess that the sprinting speed in game is about 7 mph. someone should test this just to make all these fat ****s shut up. terrain should affect movement speed though but that's not a huge priority

No there's nothing wrong with the speed. What is wrong is the acceleration, the stopping speed and nearly instantly going from full speed running to stop and to iron sights.
Also, one can run around sprinting for an entire round and not become any more tired from it, there should be some kind of fatigue system to balance this. Believe it or not, it's a lot more straining to run around with full combat gear and a weapon than without.

Perhaps the weapons behave closely to their real life counterparts, but that doesn't mean that player avatars do. It's been said repeatedly that the problems aren't as much with the guns themselves as they are with how easy it is to use them.

Using the MP40 as an example, just because an MP40 is potentially CAPABLE of hitting a target at 200m (though still quite a stretch) doesn't mean that a mortal human being who is in a warzone surrounded by the chaos of battle would be able to do it. If that were the case, any soldier with somewhat modern weapons would be incredibly dangerous at 800m, but this simply isn't the case. Soldiers aren't the machines that they are in RO2.

Absolutely spot on. And this isn't the fault of any game, for the simple fact that without a whole new breed of controller-hardware the human aspect cannot be adequately modelled. It can be abstracted with things like cone-fire, but that brings a whole raft of its own issues.

The real issue is people thinking that to accept the reality is somehow a criticism of a game per se. Could Tripwire do more to increase the realism of shooting and accuracy thereof? Yes, but then they'd lose a significant portion of the market they're clearly aiming this game at. They're caught between a rock and a hard place...dumb the game down and stay viable financially or make it hard-core and go to the wall in sales.

All that's needed is more sway. Left to Right, and up and down standing. 'Hold Breath' instead becomes 'Controlled Breathing' and the gun will sway less horizontally, and regularly up and down.

Kneeling, horizontal wobble is reduced. 'Controlled Breathing' becomes more accurate.

Prone is as stable as it is now, tiny wobbles. 'Controlled Breathing' has very slight up and down movements.

Controlled breathing for shooting is Breathe in. Breathe out slowly... Hold breath... Breath in. etc. That little cadance would make rifle shooting at distance very authentic.

The sway goes away when the gun is rested on cover/obstacles/whatevs. We have a 'rested' state now, but it makes NO change to the guns sway.

Bing. Gun mechanics are now the best in any game ever.
