i know people have mention'd before that the resolution doesnt affect fps much but this should be emphasized more.

i just bumped up to 1600 without ANY performance loss on my poor old computer ( xp2400, 512mb, 9700pro)

Well I think it is rather comp based, F.E. my comp is working like it is the Judgement Day if I play with 800x600 or higher with very low details, while 640x480 + very high + AA, only problem I find is that at long ranges, it is hard to recognize German behind a dark background, F.E. building.

Believe it or not, my comp cannot handle 800x600 or higher even with very low details. Everytime I shoot, game freezes for 2s, everytime I see someone, game freezes for 2s etc. And it does not happen with 640x480 with everything very high + 4x AA.

So, I would say it is rather computer based thing.

Yep, I was playing at 1024 like in any other game and upped it to 1280x960, only very little FPS loss, still perfectly playable. Don't think I can up it any longer since I only have a 9600se. :p

But yeah, res is the most important thing you can adjust, because it gives you better "combat awareness" through much increased and sharper line of sight.

The max resolution of my monitor is 1024 x 768 so my choice is more limited, but it works well as it is.

You probably have so crappy monitor that it doesn't support higher display modes. Try lowering your refresh rate.

I set mine to 1600x1280 and it looks weird, but I only have a 17" monitor so not sure if thats the reason.

Worked pretty well for me... Went from 1024x768 to 1280x1024 without much of a performance hit.

My 19'' LCD takes 1280 x 1024 at its highest and it runs great, pretty much the same as 1024 x 768, and this is with 4xaa/16xaf.

And I also agree about bloom at higher resolutions, it makes the plants/grass/trees look especially good!

Its not a latantcy issue, the game will not let me set it higher then 1280X1024, the option is not there....

i play set at 1280 with everything cranked to the maximum with no problems, i could handle more resolution...

I <3 bloom. It makes fire look absolutely beautiful. Fire without bloom = meh. Fire with bloom = WOW OMGZ!

And on Odessa it just gets better.

Have been using 1024x768, just because my system isn't that great (everything else at highest, AAx4 and AFx4) - but then I tried to put the resolution to 1280x1024. Everything looks so much better, I can even read the text without a problem (text is freaking small at 1024). What's strange though is that my FPS went UP with around 10 FPS, from 40-50 to 50-60 FPS...I'm gonna try 1600x1200 tomorrow, might be even better =D
