If they did it like OFP's Resistance campaign it could be cool, with equipment carrying over from mission to mission.
But they could take it one step further and have actual members of your party carry over from mission to mission, as well as your party's whole arsenal not just your personal weapons. So capturing an ammo convey would have significance, and so would taking casualties have consequences.
I just saw something on Ray Mears Extreme Survival on Discovery wich i found to be pretty awesome.
He did a show about how to survive in a forest...............So they figured out how to survive in the woods, making shelters, finding food............ setting like that would be great for a game in my opinion, kinda like Operation Flashpoint Resistance, but with some added survival features or something![]()
Good old Ray. Funny you mention that 'cos i was thinking yesterday about how nice it would be to have a basic survival feature build into jungle based shooters like farcry(2) and joint ops.
Take your knife to certain plants to obtain water - maybe not to heal as such but at least to recover stamina/endurance. If you found evidence of wildlife, you could 'use' your knife on the fauna near what you judge to be trails to create traps, and return to perhaps find you'd caught something.
To make it interesting you could have hornet's nests or other dangers to spot and steer clear of.
Is there a game like this? MGS 3 touched upon it i think.
Well,i have a game lying around here called Survival actually, but it is topdown.
Your goal is to keep your survivors alive long enough by collecting food, building shelters, making knifes and other tools etc.
The concept is great, but unfortunately it lacks in control: you gotta click and click and click on a guy to select him, cause somehow it doesnt detect it well.
Then there is the default disaster on day 2, making everybody sick etc.
Music is cool though. You can 'upgrade'your survivors in their survival skills by letting them work in the parts you want them to improve on etc.
In the end you've gotta build a beacon, or a ship etc and send it out for getting help, and then that's the end of it hehe.
The first time you play it you overlook it's flaws just for the sake of it's originality, but i couldnt play it a second time hehe.
