Moinsen!

In COD or Mohaa (long ago versions) it was passible to place 2 grenades on the door with a thin rope between, so the person who stepped through the door brought them to explosion.

I think this would be a great feature for the engineer in Ro2 with the satchel. Only 2 possible in the same time....

What you think about?

In this way the engineer could have a superb defensive position in station or maps like that...

I like it... the ability to lay mines too.... only problem is... your side might get done as well. (maybe make it that mines and booby traps show up on your sides tactical map)

of course having some one implement this for no pay is another thing.

It could be factor in slowing down the game a little, since the attackers would have to take more time to secure the area the attack.

However the current maps are so small (especially Apartments) and with lockdown on they would likely also be too powerful since players are bound to move through the area where they are placed time and time again, and as such I think it would be too much of an annoyance rather than a fun game feature.

this very much so. I get the feeling with certain maps (ie any that would/does have any kind of building to defend) merely the presence of engineers on the server would break the enemy team and have them sit on their side of the map plinking away because they don't want to become an easy kill/sacrifice for going through a door. At least until the engineers left because people kept running through the doorways and got them tk-kicked . If I remember correctly, they became annoying enough on cod most of the servers put TRIPWIRE DETECTED on your screen so you wouldn't run into them, which kinda defeats the point :(

EDIT: just thought of a practical idea relating to my concern, how does the enemy team disable it? Can they sneak around and unhook it like in fallout 3/NV, or are you making them use a grenade?

My opinion is that the game is too fast paced for boobytraps right now. Its just a sprintfest. For example on station map, people run around on stairs and doorways with the speed of light. I wouldn't be suprised if there, boobytraps would even kill their own layer more often then the enemy...

They could be used after a patch/mod that makes the game a little slower and less COD ish. Before that, its gonna do more harm then good.

The tripwire mod for cod1 was dumb. It really served no purpose and had no tactical value since most of the time the servers used the mod on tdm w\o tk on. If tk was on it would have been a whole other story with no one using it because it would put everyone into the negatives.

Interesting idea.... the trap should be noticeable by team mates via a highlight or something so they don't set them off for an easy TK....... but I don't remember being able to do this in Medal of Honor Allied Assault (Though it has been a while since I played MoHAA)

When the enemy is closing in at less than 300m the last thing you would do realistically was emplace a booby trap, mine, or some other device. Those took time to set, arm, and conceal. Game play does not reflect this time scale.

If maps started letting the defending team a couple hours of defensive preparation time before the round started, yes I'd like to see this implemented. Otherwise, it's a resounding no from me.

It can be done much easier, that Bobby traps did not explode by own teammembers.

In mohaaa/cod1/whatever it was possible to disarm the traps by enemy soldiers in sneaking on it an hold use for a couple of seconds.

It was a goo thing, i guess. And i think it was limited to 2 Traps in the same time/team.

I always like tripwires in MOHAA and COD1/2 ONLY if FF was on, there was a low limit active at once, it took a while to place them and you could remove both friendly and enemy.

Not especially realistic, but it did slow things down a bit and add more complexity to the game. Hearing them go off was a good enemy proximity indicator and it made you communicate with your teammates to avoid TK's.

In COD4/WAW, they (claymores/BB) were lame, every sniper threw them all around and there was no limit to them. Freakin everywhere.

This is a brilliant idea! This would be a great addition to the game for the engineer class to differ it from the others. It would add new strategy.
Would other engineers have to disarm it or could normal troops? When the Germans did this the Soviets historically would get them to run through them (man power). They would also do this to clear mine fields (tanks are expensive, comrade).
