And hey..what's with the green lazer squad stuff - yes I know about nationality tracer rounds but can we tone it down a bit?
Next person that mentions this gets a roundhouse kick from Chuck Norris.

Trailer download numbers

Trailer download numbers

I thought i'd take a look at the number of trailer downloads, it might give an example of the number of people that are gonna be playin RO:OST. So after it being available for a couple of days now the number of downloads are as follows:
Ostfront site:
Low: 327
High: 1451
Fileplanet:
Low: 84
High: 1516
IGN:
unknown
Fragzone:
High: 1722
Fileshack:
High: 470
3D downloads:
High: 87
Low: 17
3D gamers:
unknown
Gametrailers:
Low: 7280 (!!!!)
Gamershell:
Low: 118
High: 1244
Filefront:
High: 224
Worthplaying:
unknown

So, that totals to a minimum of some 14,500 downloads of the trailer in just 2 days! Thats alot of people :)!!! I hope this keeps going! It'd be interesting to see how many poeple have also preordered the game on steam. I havent (I plan to get the retail version) so i dont know if you can see the numbers.

The trailer has made a huge difference in getting people to recognise what a gem this game is.

That, combined with actually having the game online @ steam is making it more easy to convince people that this is a surefire hit!

If we assume that 1/2 the people will buy (a reasonable number) thats nearly 7000 sales so far :D. But who knows. A front page on all the major gaming sites (or even front of the PC section) would be pwnage :D. All you have to do is let them know it exists and they will come :).

Yeah, the activity on the forums has rocketed recently!

Edit: (Currently on the general forum if a thread hasnt been posted off the front page in the last 3 1/2 hours it's off the front page, lol!!)

I'd say half is optimistic. I'd say 20%, but only Valve/Tripwire knows for sure.

Anyone got number on steam pre-orders? :D

Nah even the DEVs will only get hard data after or around the End of the Month.

But i guess for everyone new registered User, who says he bought it, there are 1,000 More who bought it and don't come here.

So we could play a Game of who can guess closest to the Amount of people buying it, until we got the first hard date. You know that you want to speculate :)

My guess is that we see a min of 90k Copies til March, maybe even up to 200k, since i guess the PR will really start to take off now, with Previews and perhaps a Demo :). Even though a Video is nice, a Preview ill help even more *G*

I bet u'd love to be that crew

For the sake of gameplay, you have to sacrifise certain things.

If i wanna exit a doomed tank, cool animations can take a back seat :D

You know...I dont' see how that would have to take a back seat???

IF i'm the crew taht's something I'd love to see aswell, it's all part of the war and seems a lot more immersive to me....I don't see it nearly as much of a problem...

Something to think about considering trailer download numbers. I know several groups (including my own Crusty old Fossil Rockers) who have private download servers with stuff like the trailer available. That's sure to skew the numbers a bit.

Its not "cool animations" its another major realism issue. For them to randomly teleport (hello star trek) to a location outside the tank while you wait only for them to cap you because you don't know where they are.

I'm sure many people were killed this way when their tanks were rendered useless or about to explode. If not in the game hopefully it is patched in. For me this would be far more important than whether the kar had a sight hood or whether their was a muzzle flash on a rifle, since this one actually changes game play and has a major affect on realism, unlike the aforementioned.

When the mg is reloading the DP28 at the beggining of the trailer, the pivot doesn't rotate around the bipod. I've heard it is pretty hard to emulate that on a fps game, but have you devs even tried to emulate that animation? (Do not take this with a bad intention, it's just an honest question)

Awesome. That is the only way I can describe this video. Now I am really looking forward to it.

An interesting observation. at 1:04 or thereabouts, there is a close up of a German soldier. He looks like he's got his Kar all nice and lined up, and then bolts. Now I could be wrong and the shot was immediately after he fired and then it went into the bolting sequence, but I am wondering (perhaps really, really hoping) that if the player was lining up a shot, and then remembered that he hadn't bolted his rifle........a slight hint at manual bolting maybe? Or am it having pipe dreams again?
