Freeze-frame it after the BA-64 does the rad jump and the dust is clearing, right before it transitions to the SU-76 interior (about 1:34). Look closely at the soldier running towards the camera.

I didnt notice anything? Just a soldier...

Minor technical point, here...

Both the Pz.III and Pz.IV series had their transmissions in the front of the hull. The hatches on the upper hull front were there for inspecting and servicing the transmission, not for crew ingress/egress. The transmission and transfer case pretty much filled up the front of the tank between the front drive sprockets. Pz.III and Pz.IV tanks had hatches above the driver and hull machinegunner/radio operator positions, while the Stug.III assault gun driver used the crew hatch for the gunner or commander to get in or out. The Stug.IV had a built up drivers area with an access hatch. Both series of vehicles had solid block closures for the driver's vision port, with a periscope/episcope system for use when the vision block was closed.

Just take a look at this photo and compare the size of the forward hull to the soldiers in front of the Stug and you'll see the other issue...

Russian ATR's were smaller calibre AT weapons (well, 'rifle' is kinda close) that would have had a great deal of trouble even immobilising AFV's that had any decent armour.

Hence I find it difficult to believe that a round could cause a catastrophic explosion such as the one portrayed in the movie. Possibly spalling of armour in the early year afv's could happen, or a lucky shot on a rivet or bolt, but you would expect that the net result would be a crew member or two incapacitated and some general unhappyness from the rest of the crew.

I think they were good for taking out open topped AFVs or HT's and trucks...but I'm a bit sceptical if that's what I think I saw.

And hey..what's with the green lazer squad stuff - yes I know about nationality tracer rounds but can we tone it down a bit?

cheers Chris

Well you have to keep in Mind that the Panzer IV onyl had 20mm Rear Armor and only 30mm at its flanks, even the Panther only had 40mm rear and Flank Armor.

One thing I noticed by watching the trailer just now is that the reload animation for the stg44 is considerably shorter than in the mod. That last slap on the magazine with your palm to make sure it's firmly in place is no longer there. :/

I don't know who had that translated russian ptrd/ptrs manual some time ago but it clearly showed how to shoot a tank in it and where the ammunition and engine places of some german tanks where. And where you should hit. And the distance in the trailer was 30 meters or so in the manual they talked about distances of like 200+ meters.

The round hit the ammunition storage thats why you saw the big boom. Normally in the mod most shots do nothing because your bullet will deflect on the armor or simply or hit nothing of importance inside (and afcourse on most front armor not penetrate anything at all). Afcourse sometimes the enemy is lined up perfectly for you to shoot its ammunition. Or sometimes just destroy the engine. But you can also destroy individual tank members. With the tank staying pretty intact. I'm not knowledgeable about how a ptrd was in reallife but it seems pretty realistical to me.

It'd be sweet if when you damaged a tank and the crew wants to get out of it, you actually see them dismounting, opening the hatch, coming up out of it, etc instead of how it is in RO with the "insta" porting beside the tank.

Plus it'd give you time to take some good shots at them :).

I'd like to see molativ cocktails for use aswell, be able to perhaps set one ablaze/if the hatch is open and then have the crew inside crawling out on fire, etc.

I bet u'd love to be that crew

For the sake of gameplay, you have to sacrifise certain things.

If i wanna exit a doomed tank, cool animations can take a back seat :D

You shouldn't be slapping the bottom of a mag anyways. We got told that was a big no no in basic because you might knock the rounds up resulting in a stoppage.

seriously, bailing-out should be an animation, because it's utterly stupid and lame gameplay wise to be taken out by the tank commander who just popped out of his tank instantly just to shoot you

IRL he'd have to crack his hatch to shoot me with his P-38 ( maybe MP-40 ) or exit the tank entirely
