Indeed.
The Russians have active RPG defense systems since the late 70's.
You also may be interested in the "Arena" system, which was developed in 1993.

Actually all active defense systems to date use small explosive projectiles or missiles to intercept incoming rockets.Yeah lemon that russian one is just like the same idea as explosively reactive armour. This current one afaik uses some kind of microwave / radio wave something to detonate the warheads before they reach destination. Meaning it can detonate charges from all directions ( that russian one dident look like it could do the same ) and do so with much less possible harm to infantry around the tank.
Of course all this technological improvement, right before the rail gun becomes the next big weapon...![]()
I don't get why the Challenger 2 scored so low though.
I'd rather say because the compiler of the list is some kid who doesn't know squat about tanks and just likes Military Channel style lists of "top 10 stuff" without any reasoning or logic.because the compiler of the list thought is had a smoothbore main gun, and consequently no hesh

Hey, I'm just being honest.

And 8 out of 10 tanks on this list have a variation of the same gun.Is there really much difference between the western tanks? They all look pretty damn similar, have basically the same performance characteristics and I know the countries share their tech.

Either the Rheinmetall 120mm L44 or L55.
The only western tank that's got a different gun is the Chally 2 with its rifled beauty.
The L55 version can use the L44 ammo, but not vice versa due to higher pressure of the L55 round.Do they shoot the same ammo too? Would make sense to me.
While the Challenger II's rifled cannon has better accuracy and a higher operational range of ca 8500m compared to the rougly 4500m of the Leopard II it's penetration capability is less as well due to the lower pressures and lower muzzle velocity.the chally 2 can fire apfsds but i believe it has a rotating outer sabot sleeve with bearings so no spin is imparted to the round.
fins don't like spin.
not the ideal arrangement - but it gets super hesh! (untill they run out...)

Whereas all of us are of course seasoned RO vets with years of experience at finding that perfect 45 degree angle to shrug off any round, be that WW2 75mm or modern APFSDS.I'd rather say because the compiler of the list is some kid who doesn't know squat about tanks and just likes Military Channel style lists of "top 10 stuff" without any reasoning or logic.
