Just wondering if its too late to start this game/series? Population still ok? Any sales gonna happen in the future to increase its popularity?

Also, are there any good reads on learning the game/weapons/etc? :D

Still hundreds of people play it every day, especially during nighttime (GMT).
Not to mention the mods.

It has a very solid playerbase and good community.
Just join in, you will not be disappointed.

Thanks for the reply. Are there any good reads/guides I should look at to familiarize myself with the game?

I'll check out the Tips forum later on. :D

Also, any chance of a sale in the future to further increase its popularity?

buy it, play it, tell your friends about it, and best of all get a small taste of what to expect in ROHOS :)

So about how many people are playing on average, at any given time?

Also, are there any games that are similar to this one? WWII Online maybe?

there's 3 "large" (40-50player) EU servers that are filled the entire day plus some other smaller 32 slot EU servers. for NA, there's 2 24/7 Arad servers and one 24/7 Danzig server that are all filled pretty much the entire day. there's 3 NA "regular" servers that tend to get filled on a nightly basis, TWB's Old Glory, =OF= and [50pc.] and they run stock and custom maps.

specific numbers are there. right now there are 500 players in game.

I am also just starting after years of seeing this awesome game in action. Despite the older game engine this is still the best WWII themed first person game out there. I could barely run this game on my old computer as the old video card was not up to the task to handle the UT 2004 graphics. Often I would get strange glitches in gameplay that made the experience unenjoyable. While I still do not have an optimum gaming PC, I recently was able to purchase an all around decent laptop that can handle the gameplay of RO: Ostfront and look good while doing it.

Despite heavy gameplay on some servers, it seems everyone here is looking forward to the next installment in the Red Orchestra franchise "Heroes of Stalingrad". I can say I am too but there is so much great stuff in Ostfront (with "Darkest Hour" and "Mare Nostrum" mods) which are underplayed too much. *sigh* I am always one or two steps behind when it comes to gaming.

50pc fills there server randomly throughout the week,=OF= fills there's occassionally, TaT has Sunday evening friendlies on there Kill Jane server, TWB US server been filling up a lot this week. TaT Danzig always has players,AKA BOLT ONLY SERVER! . Thats as far as the US server side goes...

The next closest game compared to RO would be Forgotten Hope which is a Battlefield 2 mod. imo

A number of Servers remain populated on an almost continual basis. Most however, are active during the afternoons and evenings.

Our Server, RGN Semper Fi, is very busy on RO Fridays and most evenings (USA-East Coast)

RO Friday is an ongoing RO celebration... we are busy all day and night.

Use the built in Server Browser, it offers quite a bit of information about each server. Remember, players with NO pings are bots. RO players are a loyal bunch who are both helpful and enjoy the game and all its facets. :IS2:

They been working on a port for mac users.

Once they get that out I feel that a lot of people with macs will hop on.
Releases for mac in general has been slow tho. :(

Only 50 player servers survive to this day, which is IMO a sub-par RO experience. Good players are long gone or playing clan matches only.

The current RO scene is different than it was at it's height, true, but I play it almost everyday, have for years, and still enjoy it. It's by far the best gaming investment I have ever made. TWB*SlowBull

I don't think it's too late to start if you plan on playing Heroes of Stalingrad. I purchased the game today and just want to get used to the gameplay and community going into the next game.

I would imagine that there will be more new users like myself that take advantage of the $9.99 deal on Steam to get some Red Orchestra experience right before HOS comes out.

QFT. I've been playing RO for about 4 years, sometimes I leave for a few months... and always come back. It's one of the finest games ever made.

Sadly most people plays DH nowadays (which I despise and play just to pass time), so maybe you would like to try it too.

I take a break from it as well, but when you come back the charm is still there. ROHOS has been the only FPS I have played in the last four years except for an occasional Bad Company 2 session when I am at a friends home.

Never to late. If I had a gaming rig at the moment it would have been played at least twice this week by now for 2-3 hours.
