also try camping new spots, pick purposely bad ones, they can be a lot of fun

This. For example, I found out so much fun to camp @ spawn in the Abusement Park, when zeds come both from the front and fall down from the back.

I get all the challenge I need by being a berserker who actually, you know, berserks. I go for rapid kills rather than survival. Ideally, I can hold down the fire button with the katana and each swing will be a decapitation. Just don't get too far ahead of the crowd and rely on your reflexes and aim to survive rather than exploiting the limited spawn count to get away. Sure, you may die more often if you're a bad zerker, but it's so much more fun than kiting 20m away from the horde like a little ***** like most HoE players do. Watching them, I can see why people would consider kiting boring. They don't kill nearly fast enough. They say "But they'll spawn behind us!" I say, "Kill faster then."

As for commandos not being effective on HoE, just lol...

We camped spawn on Ice Cave; I held the main entrance mostly by myself as commando until a double FP came from behind

Final scores are at 20:15
Commando Gameplay 03: FilthsCross/Hell Waves 6-9 FAILED [Killing Floor] - YouTube

Commando is definitely underrated. Stick to semi-auto and you'll see what I mean.

If you're camping, berserkers are of much reduced use
You might want to watch Scary Ghost's "Teamwork 101" videos, where he plays a team-oriented style of zerk. Interesting.

Eh, I've seen them, and still hold to my point. Just because berserkers can work well in a team, camping environment doesn't mean they're the best class for it, or naturally work well there. I'm sure I could dig up a vid of a demo soloing maps, but I don't think demo is the best class to clutch as :p

As a sweeping statement, I'd say my thought holds true.

Sure, commando can be useful...if you get the time to aim headshots. It

I dont' know why anyone would want to watch that mega noob's videos, the gamma is cranked so high its horrible. So much for the gritty zed textures he's got installed, lol, his eyes must bleed on maps like mountain pass.

I'm mega noob, and my gamma was like that after playing on Suburbia the previous game D: Blame Youtube/h.264 for the rest.

And there's always time to aim for the head, even in those clutch moments with zeds approaching from all directions.
To be more precise, you shouldn't have to aim for the head, it should be instinct. Your hands should move without having to think :D

knee deep in pussy.
Or maybe L4D players are just generally more intelligent. :)

That's adorable.

HoE is a bit easy with a competent team and absolutely dreadful with pubs 99% of the time, which is how it should be. I still find it relatively challenging even with communication and teamwork so I'm fine with the balance and difficulty.

Also, Commando is awesome.

Yes, "should move", is a wishful thought!

I wish!

Truth is, i dont belive most humans have such automated and precise reflexes by instinct. Sure, sometimes i can see pro players in CS, but after a while any good CS-player gets accused of cheating anyway.

I KNOW, i could aim headshots easier with swarms...if i get zed-time...all the time?

Swarms are more chaotic:

1. Support = multiple penetrations with shotties = good

2. Sharp = multiple penetrations with xbow = good

3 Firebug = burn many same time = good

4. Demo = nade many same time = good

5. Medic = fortified armor to last while killing = good

6. Berserk = speed, no clot can grab and 40 % damagereduction at lv 6 = good

7. Commando = low basedamage, need many bullets when spraying while TRYING to get headshots = bad

Nah, i like commando the least if i get swarmed. That

A good commando doesnt need many bullets to be effective. I often have more than half my ammo at the end of a wave, even wave 10. The team has to be really bad for me to nearly run empty.

Check out that vid of a wave 10 on Hell on Earth. I do have a great team though, they do not let Fleshpounds and Scrakes get anywhere close.

http://forums.tripwireinteractive.com/showpost.php?p=1036659&postcount=11

I do not play commando very often, so thats one of the few I have with half decent mando' kills.

And for a personal point of view, in regard to overall usefulness AS A TEAM, I place commando ahead of zerker, medic and firebug.
- Firebug : Unless the player is good, which is rare, Firebug can be very annoying by raging/unstunning scrakes and limiting the sharpshooter / commando headshot ability.
- Medic : unless the team is bad a medic is not really necessary as good players often heal each other. But its still very useful to block stray Fleshpounds and scrakes before they do too much damage.
- zerker : I really love zerking, its great to hold on your own or even kite. But I got to admit thats not really fitting the cooperative spirit of the game. Even if the zerk stays near the group and take zeds head on, they most often get in the way of everybody else behind and block incoming shots. Though, I got to say that in some cases zerkers have their use; their damage absorption coupled with a medic make a great wall to block a small entrance xD

I see your point with all of your thoughts except... you use a crossbow in an "OMGlotsofstuffcomingatme" moment? It has almost a 2 sec reload time xD And each bolt shot only travels in a straight line, so will only hit zeds standing in a line (as opposed to a shotgun spread for example).

Still, you can sidestep to get more than 1 zed and then quickly bring out the handcannon.
