Overly negative guys :p
The Source engine isnt ideal for realism games, but they have some cool features. They need to fix the clunky feel of the controls though, i feel like a drunken sailor sometimes because your character strafes automatically sometimes too.

Next please !!!
I hear there is a pretty interesting mod that may or may not interest some , going by the unlikely name of Killing Floor...
Not very realistic as far as I understand but has certain elements of interest to regular TWI fanboys...:D...

Nearly 6 years in the making and its still in alpha, imo if your gonna spend that long doing something at least make sure you have a polished beta when you release it.
Even with the above criticism i'd say its defiantly worth a look has some nice features :) which ro could use, but by the time they have a polished beta (another 6 years given the state of the dev team) its time will have come and gone.

Source engine = fail

Yep, not sure why they chose it when everyone knows it's limitations. waste of their own time. There are good games/mods on source but they work within it's limitations, this way they produce "fun" and "enjoyment" rather then "frustration" and "why am I even playing this **** might as well play RO".

No thanks. I hate every "realism" thingie with Source engine with passion. Source is only good for GMod like stuff.

I kind of like RnL. Yeah sure on the old Normandy map you could shoot into the fog by aiming above their shadows and everything seems very pixelly. But its something new, the main thing that I like about playing source mods is the actual use of darkness. If you make an area too dark in RO then your player sort of glows (Partisan forest raid, personal experiments). On the one RnL map that takes place in a small town at night, can't remember the name obviously, it is gratifying to crawl in the shadows directly towards an enemy and know he doesn't see you.

Remark:
In the end it is just another western front war game that we are all tired of and a better use of the source engine can be found in Zombie panic! (which is also a great game to sneak around in the shadows) and Age of Chivalry

Yeah. But then you have the absurdly short draw distance.
Have they fixed the fact, that you sometimes hit a guy you manage to see like 10 times with the Kar and yet you wonder why he doesn't seem to care, before you realize he's actually entirely behind a R35 wreck you can't seee at all ?
I mean, there a re tons of nice stuff in this mod, I especially love mantling, and wish RO did this, but source just isn't the engine for this...

How are they the new boy? This mod existed back in the day for UT2k3 right along side RO (but they never got a release there). If I recall correctly, Ramm worked for them for all of 10 minutes as well.

But I do wish them the best of luck with their Source release. I played the first alpha and decided to wait for beta build.

And beta should be pronounced betta here.

mmm I used to be big in the community there and was even a "beta" tester, for whatever the word beta is worth. The dev team had a few assholes in it that ruined it but all but one are gone but I got out of there. Really actually haven't played since they released it. Maybe once or twice. The IRC chanel used to have all the devs now there's usually 6 people in there and once in a while some poor soul will come in looking for help only to be answered by silence. Sad what became of such promise...
