When looking back all the history of Red Orchestra, there have indeed been excelling custom maps worth to be played, some were changes of the changes of the original stock maps and others were completely new from scratch.
There were however always custom maps that were not worth to be loaded by the server as the atmosphere and gameplay was simply horrible.
Maps that were changes to the original stock maps very often saw negative reactions as players were used to the enemy coming only certain paths, now with new paths, often outflanking unfair bottlenecks the enemy could run past them and in the end the map was considered crap because camping off the enemy didn't work anymore.
As I have done a lot of tutorials to get myself ready for the RO2/RS SDK I have been thinking a lot about maps for the elder days that I would love to see back in RO2. I made sketches on paper, drawing paths, buildings, bunkers and ammo stashes.
My exams are over in about 2 weeks. The first of the maps that I will re-polish will be TE-Apartments, as the stock map does not give justice to the potential of the map.
After completion of my make-over of Apartments, I will work down this list and remake these goodies for RO2:
* Krasni Oktyabr (always loved the atmosphere on this map)
* Red God of War (massive defense map for Axis, very immersive)
* VolgaB2 (map dating from the mod days, very immersive)
* Volkov River (Actually Leningrad front, but awesome long distances)
Mod and Ostfront veterans will surely remember those and love to hear that someone (ME

) has taken up the job to bring them to RO2.
