Tips for new players! This is for the players joining us from the free weekend. I hope they signed up to the forums and see this.
I played RO2 for quite a while so I have some advice for new players.
The game focuses on teamwork and that means you have to work together. You shouldn't be running around and trying to kill as many people as possible. The objectives and denying enemy ground is the most important component of winning the battle.
One of the key component of the game that many players miss is that this game has a squad system. It is a problem because people overlook it and do not know it exists. Please try to work together in your squads to accomplish your goals. If you are new, try not to take squad leader until you know the map and are ready to give some commands.
"P" is the default key for squad chat and you should defnitely rebind it. You can use CAPS LOCK for team chat but if you want to work in your squads, it is much better to use squad chat. This is so that you don't confuse people when you are giving orders to your squad.
When you first enter a server, it will tell you to choose a team. After that it gives you a screen showing role selection. If you don't have friends, you can just select the role you want. But if you have friends that are playing as well and you want to work together in a squad, I recommend going to the next page which is the squad selection page. It will show each squad with the roles available. In my opinion, I believe TWI should have switched the two pages so players will be more likelly to work in squads. They should have also used a better key for squad chat.
Also, pressing "T" brings up the tactical menu and it will display a minimap, location of objectives, and location of your squad leader. This is very important when you are trying to link back up with your squad to complete objectives.
I hope this helps guys! See you in my squad. =)
