The amount of butthurt expressed here over something so inconsequential as actual German voices versus English voices with a German accent is unbelievable.

I guess you could interpret it two different ways. Either a) the fundamentals of the game look so good that such small matters are blown completely out of proportion to their importance in the game or b) the forum crowd have seriously misplaced priorities.

It would seem that some of the actual gameplay mechanics issues that have already been pointed out in the thread would be cause for far more concern, and I'm glad to hear from TW staff that they are still to be polished.

Also, TW staff participation in these ***** fests has always impressed me. I was active for a few years on another developer's forum and they simply banned the whiners. It says a lot that you guys jump in these threads and address people's concerns (and personal insults) in a calm and professional manner.

Let me explain even more. The full German/full Russian packages won't even exist in your build, unless you are playing in the German or Russian languages. So what you are suggesting is actually having six packages, Full German (your team), Partial German (enemy team), Full English, Full Russian (your team), Partial Russian (enemy team), Full English, and then swapping between those. Thus my comment about it being possible, but too much work/too much added complexity to implement before shipping the game. The alternate yet simpler method, which is just replacing both sides with the full Russian/full German, would take up too much memory.

Keep in mind, we kind of know what we're doing, and have been through all of these ideas already :)

Thanks, I really appreciate the explanations (that you don't really owe me).

One last thing:
Could we, as players, set our Steam to German, and Russian, to get the audio packs, then redownload the English version, and rename those packs with the English names, and replace them? so the only effective difference would be the audio file itself? Could it theoretically work? Could we get PBBanned for it?.

I know that there wont be subtitles then, but I'd probably do a first playthrough and some MP in English to understand it, and then substitute later on with this method (if it works, of course).

I wonder the same thing, Its a true luxury that we have the Devs talking to us, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't voice our concerns... cause as long as we do it in a respectful manner, I don't see why we shouldn't.
I'd have zero tolerance with personal insults myself. Biting the hand that feeds is always a horrendous act.

You will get a package mismatch. The server would not let you connect.

My question was never answered. Is it possible to make something like russian/german language pack for optional download? So then if you don't want to we don't have to hear any english?

So if I switched my game to localized German I would hear German while playing on the German side. But, what about while playing on the Russian side? It wouldn't make any sense for the Russians to speak German as well as the Germans.

The Soviet gameplay video is very impressive. Totally blew me away.

Thanks for the explanation, I too appreciate it a lot. Wow, 3000 lines. I recall Alan mentioning the plan was to have the option for Russian / German, but that not all plans come to be. Too bad it not feasible. I also figure there might be variations on the lines, so it's not always the same voice - probably drive up the memory usage even more.

Anyways, I do hope some time down the road, you guys could consider making an update for this option (I got 8GB RAM baby!).

Alternatively, could someone with the SDK put out a "mod" for this, that could also run on servers to insure there isn't a mismatch?

Great vids!

BTW: Can you guys run FRAPS for the capture, and just let the press download the file onto Flash drives? Alternatively, if they use HDMI capture, your video cards must have HDMI output too.

Anybody else feel like the PPSh will still have a huge advantage over the MP-40 in close combat due to the fact that it's rate of fire is so much higher (hey that rhymed)?

(I think that's a good thing btw)

EDIT: Hey Ramm, any explanation for why some guys survived 2+ rifle shots to their upper body? I was speculating it was just luck, cause that's happened to me in RO1 and I've survived (it's like 1 in a million, but it happened)

Everything looked awesome. I have only one major criticism:

Please show us some REAL gameplay. All we've seen from the videos is someone running around aimlessly with an SMG mowing down everything in his path without challenege.

We have yet to actually see the type of unique, challenging, unforgiving gameplay that RO is all about. I don't say this just to satisfy my own desire to see RO2 gameplay, but because it seems that no videos have yet to really showcase RO2's unique gameplay, and many people who watch these videos can easily dismiss it as "just another WWII shooter".

Demonstrators get killed all the time in these videos. That last one was probably the first I've seen where he actually manages to not get shot like he has a target painted on his helmet.

For once we get to see some of the game's amazing effects, instead of the respawn counter.

So I can have a full Russian package (I speak it) if I change steam language to Russian before I buy/download tha game, or I choose it in the game installation?
Where else would you have the company's baws go to tha forums and answer people's whiny posts multiple times like that? Just be thankful for once.. for some1 new to RO community many of you seem like spoiled, whiny pr*cks, really.
