No Worries guys the ragdoll shown in the vids is not complete :) As for the Battle-chatter the video didn't illustrate it well but it really does add a lot to the immersion factor of the game.

wall of cool features

Great to hear, looking forward to see this all on my own screen :p
I think there might be some awesome movies possible with all this chatter for immersion, i can already see(hear) the battle going on :D

Someone please clarify for me (I confuse easily):

Will your teammates be emoting and announcing battle situations in MP as well as SP? or is this strictly in SP?

Either way, to appease everyone, I cast my vote to include (even if at a later date) the option to hear only Russian/German <or insert language of your choice> for those with enough memory...(And be damned what it costs you TW :p .)

(I can't imagine the support nightmare that comes with people trying to run the game without enough memory on day 1 )

I don't understand the too much memory thing. How would it take up more memory if it is in russian than english? If it is the same amount of dialogue, then that doesn't really make sense to me. Also is it actually still in alpha? The game is two months away from release.

So does this mean that if I want to hear my team members speaking German (which I do speak), I will have to switch my game's localization to German via Steam and download the censored German version? No thanks.

If that's the case, surely it would work to switch the localization to Austria to get German voices and no censorship?

After the kind and very thorough explanation by Ramm and Zerisus, I am more than satisfied.

ty for the grammar check, Nezzer, I did my best, but wow does the real text make much more sense :D

I understand what you say here, but I don't think we are talking about the same things. My post wasn't meant to be about having the enemy use a full package. What I meant is to have the option so my team, using the full original package instead of the full English one, while keeping the enemy using their reduced package. The amount of memory should be the same.
Exactly, 3000 lines in German need the same memory than 3000 lines in English.

Which makes this statement kind of void
There will not be an option to turn this off, as we discovered it will take up too much memory to do this (there is a LOT of dynamic battle chatter, even in MP)

If the way it works in RO2 is the same as RO:Ostfront, then thats not how thne censoring works.

Red Orchestra does not check where you bought the game, but rather where you are. We grab your IP from Steam and get the country code from it. I guess that's not how they handle it for those other games.

Or I am used to the rag doll in Ostfront, where the bodies looked like they had weight, and crumbled. In this, they look like a loaded spring that shoots back to an awkward spread eagle type body position. There are even a couple moments in the videos where a guy is crouched and gets shot and starts to fall forward, then he defies gravity and shoots backward and lands on his back spread eagle.

All I know is that they can be batter and have been better in the past.

I agree with this post. The rag dolls in RO1 looked very realistic. When a person gets shot and dies in RO2 something looks very off to me.

Yeah devs, this would really SUCK.
And please don't tell me something like:"Then don't play it."

I know censorship in certain countries isn't your fault, or even your problem, but like others said: Having the voices already recorded in the native languages, one should be able to here them as he pleases.

Best post in the entire thread. >.>

Worst suggestion I've heard all day. I need another game where I can give at least basic commands to AI in a somewhat tactical game. ArmA 2 has its issues and Red River looks to be complete garbage.

But having more or less variation on the other team shouldn't affect the language that your own team is speaking, the issue is not the other team, is your own.

If the memory is a problem, couldn't there be an option in the config menu about it, something that can only be selected if the computer has enough RAM?

I was thinking about this myself.

The engine loads the entire sound package at once. So if you replace the reduced size enemy speech (Russian Russian, German German) packages with full size enemy speech packages, then you have two full sized speech packages loaded all the time instead of just one.

We could potentially implement an option at some point for people with lots of memory. But it also adds an extra level of complexity for implementation, which we don't have time for. It is already super complex to play english on one players machine, and german/russian on another depending upon what someone's team is.

While the language issue is not that important to me, an after release update with the option added would be great for those that care.

Thanks for the reply. Good to know there is still work to be done. :)

Let me explain even more. The full German/full Russian packages won't even exist in your build, unless you are playing in the German or Russian languages. So what you are suggesting is actually having six packages, Full German (your team), Partial German (enemy team), Full English, Full Russian (your team), Partial Russian (enemy team), Full English, and then swapping between those. Thus my comment about it being possible, but too much work/too much added complexity to implement before shipping the game. The alternate yet simpler method, which is just replacing both sides with the full Russian/full German, would take up too much memory.

Keep in mind, we kind of know what we're doing, and have been through all of these ideas already :)

Yeah We dont want a delay of the game. TWI know what they are doing, when the game comes out it will be so fun and intense we will understand why they did what they did.
