The M39 Enhanced Marksman Rifle (EMR, NSN 1005-01-553-5196; more formally the Rifle, 7.62 MM, M39 Enhanced Marksman Rifle (EMR)) is a semi-automatic, gas-operated rifle chambered for the 7.62x51mm NATO cartridge. It is a modified and accurized version of the M14 rifle built and utilized solely by the United States Marine Corps (USMC). It is based on the current United States Marine Corps Designated Marksman Rifle (DMR), which it will replace.

sure, but it still has a 20 round magazine and semi auto (aka, spamming) capability. thus, still resulting in the potential for a SS to use the weapon for "mop up" duty and infringe on the already established roles of other perks ;)

edit: and to note, just because the gun in reality is used as a marksmen's weapon doesn't mean that it will be like that in a video game. real soldiers would not be able to rapidly hipshoot the weapon and hit with the accuracy that they can in the game. players WILL develop enough feel to accurately hipshoot the weapon despite whatever TW does to try and make it more difficult (more recoil, sway etc...). take RO for example, which has free aim (KF doesn't), even with hipshootinig in that game being the hardest to master compared to every other fps out there, people will still master it. so long as players could use any version of the M14 that has semi-auto capibility, there will be spammers......unless you take away the ability to fire from the hip, which has been proposed before. i've already given my opinion regarding that solution, which is that i don't support it

Reducing the rate of fire, ammo stay the same but increase weight so that u can't carry LAR with it or handcannon, slightly increase in recoil.

Some of my own thoughts:

  • At the very least, make it less powerful than the winch.
  • Jesus holy crap dude this is HUGE gun give it the 10 blocks it deserves.
  • Moar recoil.
  • Make enemies actively evade any visible dot, they way they would a grenade or a husk shot.
  • Temporarily blind any player who gets hit in the face with the laser, and let the non-n00bs on the team grief the offending players and nerf the gun that way.
  • Have the trader make some really creepy innuendo when the player buys it.

lol be grateful that the laser doesn't blind the zeds rendering them useless. Dodging laser sight doesn't even help making the weapon useless since u can still shoot without laser if u play long enough.

To be honest I have no idea how much of an effect the laser really has, because it seems due to performance issues I've disabled whatever it is that allows the dot to be seen.

But anyway, lately I've kinda noticed that a lot of games are broken down into three very distinct parts: the early waves when things are interesting, the late waves when all I really do is pick off straggling crawlers and (if SS) take out the pounders before they get raged and the scrakes before they provide enough cover for the crawlers to do the real killing, and finally the patty round which is a total mixed bag as long as people don't guard their pile of pipes like a dragon sitting on its hoard.

The second part is very boring and easy as long as the pounders don't bunch up or team up with multiple sirens. And it seems to be defined by being the point at which people get enough money for the 14.

Maybe the 14 is a hopeless game-balance dead end and it should best be just replaced with a Garand...
