Learn PhotoShop mate - it'll take you years but it is a very rewarding programme that you will never get to the bottom of. I have been using it for about 4 years now and am still finding new stuff out. There are thousands of sig tutes and most of them are for fairly ho-hum, derivative manga/motion blur style sigs. Usually with lots of spikey metal.

It is not necessary to be 1337 at all the uses of filters, masks and blending to make a good sig - the idea and basic layout is prolly more important. For example, in my opinion one of the best sigs I ever made (for originality) was this:

mazusig.jpg

Which is basically one large image cut down with a gradient mask over it (the fadeout on the right) and a funky font I downloaded with a bevel effect on it. Took about 5 minutes.

A good place to start looknig at tutes for sigs is www.pslover.com but don't get discouraged if your sig doesn't look like you expect at first - remeber that it takes years (mebbe decades) to learn PS properly.

Until you work it out, here's one to be going on with:

Photoshop is a pretty easy program to do basic things if you spend a couple minutes ****ing around with it. I "aquired" it and made a (****ty) sig in about 30 minutes. A couple months later I made the fantastic one you see today, still with my extremely limited know-how of photoshop. Just mess around with it and you'll prolly figure out how to make something you like.

Yea ive used this before, id say PS is better and has many more plugins but Gimp is capeable of the same results. Less user friendly i think.

Easy of use depends on your work flow. Photoshops a pain for me to use because my workflow.

you could try paint.net. the workflow the program has is similar to PhotoShop. Theres a thread in the 2d section with a link toe the site.

Go to www.imageshack.com and upload it. They tell you the link to it. Copy the link and paste it in the signature via your controlpanel on top of the forum, right below the topictitle.

Then post here and ask us if we can see it.

1. Take picture
2. Make new document
3. Use dimensions no larger than 400x150
4. Cut the part out of the picture you wanna use
5. Size it off so it fits your new document.
