Here's my little list of things that I think people either forget or don't think about while playing.

1. Grenades.

Used to create an empty space of a few square meters by either making the enemy move or by simply killing them. Unfortunatelly most of the time these are only spammed into objective areas making those places completely inhabitable by both the defenders and those that are supposed to claim the place. Remember that these are great to remove enemies at other places as well! The best way to move forward in the trenches on Lyes Krovy is by tossing the enemy a grenade, move up, toss another one around the next corner and so on. Don't forget to pick up grenades from dead foes or comrades. Unfortunately they work equally well on both friend and foe, which lead me to the next item:

2. Situational awareness.

Always mind your surroundings, as Batmans tutor said in the last movie. For instance don't toss grenades into an objective area that is being capped by your team (quickly check your map before tossing). Also, try to listen to the chatter and go help when people ask. Keep a lookout on your teammates. Are they covering your back? Can you cover theirs in some way? It happens too often that I check my back and finds a friend. The next second I am gunned down by an enemy from behind and that so called friend is nowhere to be found.

3. Covering fire.

The three basics of combat are Fire, movement and cover. Covering fire is often referred to as only "cover" and that is for a reason. When firing fiercly on an enemy position they are less likely to stick their noses out. This makes open ground more safe for your own guys, thus you give them cover by opening fire. Now here's the thing: too many people die with too much ammunition left. They only fire at enemies they see, waiting for them to pop their heads up. But once they do, they will fire back unless you are the better shot. Don't forget fire superiority! I have seen members from the 13th/93 (I think) gather up in the mortar position on Kaukasus (public game): five rifles and an MG34 all firing in the same direction. Not a single russian survived trying to stick their heads up to pop off a shot. The result? The rest of the german team could be safe half the way to the ruined tower.

Thus: Keep firing! Waste that ammo, you can always restock or grab another weapon from the enemies that you just passed unto kingdom come. Go watch Heat for inspiration (the scene where 3 people shoot themselves out through a police blockade. That's fire superiority folks.).

4. Know your weapon.

On too many assault maps you see all riflemen lingering in the back hoping to pop a few enemies while the SMG people get to take all the beating in the capzones. Now here is my filosophy (I don't claim it to be the absolute truth, but it has worked surprisingly well):

Support classes stay behind, all other join the assault. MGs are support weapons (see covering fire). Sniper rifles are support weapons. Rifles have bayonets. Support or CQC? Riflemen have two grenades. CQC. Riflemen will drastically increase your body count in the capzone. Riflemen excell at securing areas (stationary shooting where you can aim down the sights waiting for the enemy to counter attack), while the smgs keep spearheading the attack onward. Rifles are pretty screwed close up against smgs, but simply don't be the first to enter a room. Know your weapon and position yourself accordingly. But join the attack! It's a shame to waste half the team in a shooting range contest when all maps are about objectives.

5. Did I mention that you people should waste more ammo?
