Lol very true about the sprinting on some maps. I was picking people off from a window, then I heard this heavy breathing, like a dying pig. I turned around and sure enough there was a sneaky russian in the room with me. He didn't expect me to turn around, so I got him too. Dont try to sneak while you are breathing like a pig.

When up against a good tanker as a squishy. Always look around your cover from him for things that he can shoot and give splash damage. One of my favorite moments on Barashka, german dives into trench. I shoot HE into trench lip above him sending a fine red mist back out the top of the trench. "haX0r!!!11 I was in the trench!!"

I would also like to add this:

Give yourself options!
I was playing snowyforest last night, and the germans only blew up one piece of barbed wire the whole round. I had my DP and blasted all who came near. It was a death trap for them. You can't win by doing the same thing every time, it just gets your enemy more and more aware of your moves.

And that is perhaps right where you want them ;)

Speaking as a member of the "get out there and get it done" crowd, I have to admit that I often shoot at the feet of spawn snipers. Never TKed one yet; a good burst from an MP40, accompanied by some succinct chat usually gets the job done.

I will say that it is way to hard to suppress with an MG. Too often I'm sniped by the rifleman I'm pouring fire on. That's something that needs to be fixed before proper suppression can be achieved.

You get sniped because your riflemen aren't moving up when you place cover fire. If they were then the enemy would be more concerned with killing the guy that is running up on their position with that smg. Besides modern day and then, mg's are priority targets. They have a small life span in a fire fight. It would be the enemies priority to kill them anyways.

So, few tips now.

1. Turn up the speakers - and buy surround sound if you can. You MUST learn to identify all the weapon sounds - your tactics change according to what gun you hear, so memorize them. Attacking a K98 is very different from attacking a G41 - you will get raped if you don't learn the difference.

2. Learn key spots where people tend to group up. Lyeskrovy, in Front Guard, everyone always runs for the bunkers, so nade those, and patrol the trenches, and you won't die as often.

3. NEVER cook your nades when you have teammates close by. You are asking to TK.

4. If you are capping, lie down and cover a door. Don't be a retard and stop the cap because you just wanted the extra kill.

When sniping, remember that keeping people out of the capzone is your biggest priority. DO NOT SNIPE FROM OUTSIDE THE CAPZONE!

Get in the capzone, find a safe spot, and shut down the enemy reinforcements - like you are supposed to.

For some reason, people think smoke helps them arrive safely. NEVER, EVER go through smoke.

A.) Most people sprint through smoke, leaving them defenseless once they exit.

B.) Defenders watch smoke because they know most attackers will come through it - and they will often toss nades into it just hoping for a kill.

C.) You are creating your own chokepoint when you throw smoke, and hindering your ability to find and eliminate enemies.

This applies in reverse. Defenders should smoke key doorways, hallways, etc. Attackers see smoke, think "Oh, a safe route!"

Position an MG overlooking the smoke exit for lots of fun.

Keep up your situational awareness. This is especially important on maps like Lyeskrovy and Basovka, where often the only indicator you have of an approaching enemy is the tip of his bobbing head, or his footsteps. I probably garner about half my kills in RO just because I saw a flash of movement and positioned myself accordingly.

When you see a head bobbing along a trench in Lyeskrovy, just crouch, ironsight, and wait. Once you think the person will run into your sights, start spraying so they run right into your bullets.

*Unfortunate side effect - you will be called a wallhacker once in a while :p *

There's more, but I thought I would start off with this.

You have some good points Doomed, but are the cats that neccassary?

And I disagree, this does not apply to most objectives. (e.g. Any Obj on basovka)

The public servers are so full of people who either don't know how the game is played, are just hopeless in reading the battle or do not care...

I have to say that if it weren't for stuff like Iron Crescendo, I wouldn't be playing this game anymore. Pwning noobs on random maps with random results thanks to randomly motivated players... Not my cup of tea! Hence I use pubs only for practice.

But when you have an organized team fighting against another, that's when this game really shows its worth!

Smoke is supposed to block LOS but I have recently been shot quite often through smoke, from guys in or behind it, and I know it is the guy in the smoke or behind it who did it.
