some ww2 rhetoric, for example refering to the match as 'd-day'
the faces of english players superimposed on the bodies of dad's army characters
reference to sunbeds
liberal use of the word 'achtung'
good harmless racial stereotyping.
Ah well the Aussies are out, as I thought that travesty of a first game killed the tournament for us.
I am going to join in with French and Italy supporters in blaming my teams coach. He made last minute changes to the structure and personnel of the team before that opening game against Germany and we duly got thumped. The next two games we played our usual structure and guess what? We looked so much better! We would have beaten Ghana 3 - 0 if not for that red card and we beat Serbia 2 - 1, if only he had played the plan our players know and perform well in that first game, not saying we would have won but it would have been more respectable than 0 - 4.
I don't think Ghana with their only 2 goals of the tournament coming from penalties deserve to go through and I think they will get smashed in the first round of 16.

do ya know that the semi final is guarenteed to feature either S. Korea, USA , Ghana or Uruguay?

the winners of S korea vs Uruguay and Ghana vs USA will meet in the quarters, meaning one of those 4 teams will be in the semi final.
Not one to be judgmental, but this surely proves that both France and Italy were overrated?
I can't express my regret at having missed the Slovakia-Italy game enough. I reckon that must have been one of the better games of the cup so far (Germany-Australia and N.Korea-Brasil among the others, for me).

TBH, I was flipping between Denmark-Japan and Italy-Slovakia today. Both were very entertaining.
