The Use key

At present Ctrl is bound to: give MG ammo, bandage, use cover and pickup weapon.

I have looked through the controls and there doesn't seem any way to separate them which is a bit of a problem.

For instance if I want to resupply an MG behind cover I quite often find myself using the nearest bit of cover or picking up a weapon.

I would be surprised if no one else would prefer the actions to have their own separate keys so that you don't accidentally perform the wrong action.

I totally agree,

I end up with all kinds of weapons in my inventory, and often being shot dead after accidentally snapping to cover, while I just got shot and wounded from that direction, and tried to bandage myself.

I like it, it adds another dimension to the game. It's like you have a very hard minigame if you want to pick up one out of two weapons lying next to cover.

IMO, cover system should have a completely separate button. And the rest (bandage, resupplying and grabbing weapons) could be placed in one button which changes its function depending on where you are looking at: MG -> resupply; a weapon in the floor -> take that weapon; you've been hit and bleeding -> bandage.

I always want a separate key for every mechanic! This is not a console game I dont want 3-4 functions on one key

Yes. This way I could just ironsight and whatevers in the middle of screen, I do it. Not looking at anything and bleeding? Bandage. YES.

Use turrets, and pickup weapons should be z. Cover should still be left ctrl.

Actually I found bandaging next to cover impossible at first to, but it seems bandage takes first priority of the button. So if you are mashing it, you will bounce on and off cover but since bandage is almost instant, you will be okay. :]

Try calmly hitting the button once, even if it says 'press left control to cover' you won't move and will bandage.

I'd still like it to be on a separate button but it really isn't to big of a problem atm. ^^

Bandaging does seem to take precedence over any other context sensitive action.

The rest are unpredictable though if there is more than one "use" action that can be performed from where you are standing.

I wouldn't be bothered if Tripwire left the universal use key in for people that like it as long as they give those that don't the choice.

Yeah at least give us a CHOICE you know? Instead of it being forced, I to have died many of times because I'd keep snapping into cover when I needed to bandage then I just die because I didn't do it in time.. It really isn't cool to have to move away from cover to do it, you should be able to do it within cover, like maybe your character should sick down against the cover and bandage himself.
