And I actually love the MAC when it's unperked. A lot of fans have asked for that as well. A full-auto HC alternative.

Are you HC... or MAC?

Well played TWI. You guys listened to the majority of the community about balance, and we thank ye.

Will TWI be taking a break from KF to work on other games, or do you guys have some future plans you can share? Either way, thanks for the update. I'm off to buy my CP.

The entire dev team is working on RO 2. However Dayle and I will be working in our spare time to bring further balance updates out. There will be more information on this in the near future. I am also hoping to promote more community content that can be added as stock content, but this is still in the talk about it phase.

Nice. It would be sweet to see some more varied mechanics and mods supported by TWI too, I know there's a load of stuff out there to try.

It's a nice update - I like it. Why would KF need a big update? It's fine! Don't ruin it with your "more content"-cry. I played the mod for years, I played the retail game for a long time now. And it doesn't need those huge updates. A few map and balancing fixes, maybe a new weapon (MAC-10) and new developer-quality maps. And that's what this update just did.

Keep flaming and hating, I need to play a round of KF. :)

I'll just throw in another of the Thank You's

I think the best change is that Hospital Horrors got official. I've loved the map since I first got slaughtered there. Suburbia and Biohazard are nice as well.

The MAC-10 is funny. It might be on the OP side, but it is funny as hell. Used it as a zerk for bloats and as firebug for everything.

New chars are new chars, and they get thrown in for peanuts.

I have not played commando with the SCAR since the update, but I understand the reasoning. It always felt like an SS weapon, and I always kept strong fire discipline. Now, I might need to go auto on it.

i like the way you think ;) (to note, that doesn't always require having to add a new employee into the payroll :D)

initially right when i logged into steam and had time to check the forums, i got messages from 6 or 7 people basically saying "zomg, update is crap!" or "fuuuu TW!". once i finally got the chance to test out the changes and like i said in other various threads about the recent update, it's really a decent little mini-update. there's a couple good changes and it at least shows that they still care (at least somewhat) about making the game better. the game is not any worse that it was before the update and in fact a few things are highly beneficial so for that i'm satisfied.

sure it's not quite what everyone expected, but since we finally got some more confirmation from actual devs that more is still in the works, including the "big" things, i'm not as disappointed as many others seem to be. although my personal expectations will now be much higher for the next "update" since they weren't quite met with this one :D

at the very least, all the various people raging got some encouraging and appologetic posts out of Dayle and Yoshi :)

You're reading what Yosh and them said entirely wrong if you believe there are "big" things still in the current pipeline for KF.

Right now, as noted in another thread, Xienen is taking suggestions for quick balance fixes. That's about it.

Indeed. I was just pointing that out so nobody got their hopes up too high for the next update as many seem to have for this one. ;)

Regardless of what I might have said yesterday on other topics, Id also like to thank Tripwire.

While this update might have not been anything we expected, its still all free content from a small team who is also currently working on other projects. There shouldnt be anything to complain about. Especially now that some people decided to sacrifice their freetime to fix the remaining balance issues.

i'm reading it exactly as to what was said:

at present, Xienen and Yoshi are working on their own free time to produce a quick balance update that will address all (or should i say as many as possible) the balance issues that were not addressed in this latest update.

like Xienen said, i'm referring to the next update (not this balance fix) when i talk about hoping the next one is bigger and more along the lines of what people were expecting after waiting for almost a year....

as for what to expect from a "big" update and how to get there, i'd like to point out these comments by Yoshi:

He has other weapons as well he's made that I am trying to work out of him but that is a different story :)

be interesting to see if any of these weapons still have a future in KF

Now back to community made items. This is something I would really like to support going forward with the Tripwire team having the majority of their time occupied on RO 2. To that end, if anybody creates a weapon or character or zed that is up to the quality of the stock game, we would gladly introduce it as stock content.

We are also thinking of ways to promote the creation of said content, but do not have anything to say on this yet.

^ this.....there's a ton of talent and dedication in this community. there's people who have developed outstanding concepts and people who've already made the steps to making them a reality. if TW employees can't devote the time into adding more content, gametypes, levels etc.. into KF (due to all the work needed for RO2), then at least allowing the community to better contribute to the game through the addition of their work as OFFICIAL content is the only way to go. that COULD result in what people think of as "big" updates.....new zeds, new maps, new weapons, new gametypes, new mutators etc...

I love the Mac10 as firebug (maybe its a little TOO powerful for lv6 to spawn with mac + FT + ARMOR lol but hey some love at last). I think the new weapon is well polished and handles uniquely. Well done for that. Only prob is that it sounds like the AK to anyone but the player holding it, which detracts from the atmosphere slightly, but no biggie.

I like this thread, because there are so many voices in this forum with negative critique.
I want to espacially point out positive things of the patch.

1.) Great to see the game still supported after this long time.
2.) Some love to the firebug finally
3.) Mags reduction to the M14 -> I hope it solves to problem of spamming like hell
4.) LAW buff -> have to test it on full suicidal server
5.) SCAR nerf -> I also have to test the impact of this. Maybe it helps encourage
teamplay, because you can not engage the bigger zeds as easily
now and have to rely on Supporters or Sharpies.
Fact is it was much to easy to kill everything except FPs with this
weapon. Even Scrakes are no threat with a tiny bit of help.
6.) New money system

I know the game is not perfect and there is still work to do, but TWI definetly goes in the right direction IMO. I hope for some quick fixes to balance the game even more and make it even more interesting.

Although i'm not happy with the Scar nerfing being a Commando guy, i still wanna thank Tripwire for the latest release of free update, moreso on the new money system.. More power TWI.. ;)
