Yeah, just read about that as well. I guess it doesn't matter if bills like SOPA/PIPA pass or not, the US government will still do whatever it wants.
If SOPA/PIPA pass, that power will be in the hands of the major corporations.
Don't the major corporations indirectly control the government anyway? If SOPA/PIPA pass, that power will be in the hands of the major corporations.

Yes, but you can still beat them in a trial as long as the law backs you up.
The thing is, while they can get away with almost anything, the last thing you want to do is making it even easier for them.
Time for a vintage fapping, Label. Magazines!!! hipster fap!

Which is what Megaupload seems to have done, if they actually did intentionally pay distributors they knew were sharing copyrighted content.

Better shut down every single image sharing website, dropbox, rapidshare and all else. ****, even gmail can be used to distribute copyright material. Better shut down google too.
Do you really think the website has any real control over what users upload?
Shutting down Megaupload is like shutting down New York because you can find illegal drugs and guns in New York.
At least shared files don't kill..
Do those sites pay distributors of copyrighted material? I think the profit part is actually what makes it illegal in the first place.
I'm not defending copyright hounds like the MPAA and RIAA, or these bills, but that slippery slope argument is being abused here and it's getting old.
